Crazy depth of talent in all sports at that school.  If you think how they are in football. Come out with me and Texasball and watch some track this year.  Boys and girls are sick in that sport as well as BBall   Nice program in Desoto, Tx

Yea, I'll do that.  Their track team might be their best sport

Remember Connman and I saying that the Best of 4A could compete with 5A and non Elite 6A and many did this year.

Gilmer, Carthage and Henderson 4A bullies vs. Beast Texas 6A Longview, Lufkin, JT and Tyler Lee signing day.

4A schools

Carthage (6) 4A State Champs

Peyton Bickham (football), East Texas Baptist
James Ebarb (football), East Texas Baptist
Tanner Elliott (football), Tyler Junior College

Nic Moore (football), Tyler Junior College
Austin Russell (football), Tyler Junior College
This doesn't include the best RB in Beast Texas Jr. Running back Keaontay Ingram, Carthage, RB, 6-0, 198 — offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU (10)

Gilmer (5)

Kameryn Cuevas (football), Southern Arkansas
Dimitri Fort (football), East Texas Baptist
Landry Henson (football), Louisiana College

Matthew Childers (football), Texas A&M-Commerce
Raini Dorman (football), Texas A&M-Commerce
Tristan Ebner (football), Baylor
Tariq Gray (football), Howard Payne
Lakendrick VanZandt (football), TCU

6A schools 4x larger than the 4A schools

John Tyler (10)  This coincidentally was the best team in Beast Texas

Damion Miller (football), Texas
Dau’quawn Montgomery (football), Tuskegee

Longview (4)

How explosive is this kid?  What type of break away speed does he have?  ND should be thin at the rb spot and he can come in and get some early time if he's physically ready.

How many pro bowlers does Carthage have in the NFL? I count 3 for Longview.

How many current CFB players does Carthage have projected to be in coming NFL drafts? I count 7 for Longview.

Those beast Texas big schools not only have the depth, but better talent than the smaller schools. NSD numbers don't always tell the entire story when it comes to bigger schools, so many factors including late signees.

Again, the Carthage's, the Gilmer's....I respect them and they are great for their own classification. But we can't keep coming out here and comparing them to 6A teams everytime they win a 1A, 2A, 3A or 4A title. That's setting them up for failure. I'm surprised you haven't said that Mineola would whoop up on JT yet. lol It's like saying Floyd Mayweather would whoop Mike Tyson or Ali all because Mayweather never loss a fight in the lower weights. But we both know that wouldn't happen.

Fun convo though DD.

We are not talking every year single year nor are we talking about elite 6A or truly elite 5A.   You can't ignore some of the teams that the 4A and old 3A schools have produced over the years.

Last year and this was not a great Gilmer team - They beat Nacogdoches in Nac on homecoming - Nac had already beat Tyler Lee.-  Sure Tyler Lee was only 2-8 6A schools - but their is more to the story.  They was in 4 qrt battle with multiple very solid above average 6A schools and lost very close games.  Actually go look at those game and read articles so you can truly see how competitive Lee was with some damn good 6A schools.

IMO - teams like Gilmer - have whole lot more talent than you realize.  Dude, DD and I was on the sideline watching these dudes.  They had the kid that is going to OSU and I am telling you first had they had 3 more kids that looked damn near like him and played just like him at WR -  When they lack size on the OL it doesn't really matter, they are so well coached and they make up for with speed and offensive scheme.

Know body and mean nobody has better screen passing game than Gilmer TX -  They have about 30 different screen passes and will run them anywhere on the field.  They will make the defense run sideline to sideline about 4 plays and then they will go down deep and meanwhile your boys are still chasing the fake screen set up.

That sux. The biggest HSFB state should have 1 true champ.

I must be the only person who likes the current setup. I like to look at it a different way. Florida's highest class claims a champion among the top 89 schools by enrollment. The next among 86 schools. 2 Champions crowned among the top 175 schools! Georgia crowns 2 Champions among their top 106 teams! Texas crowns 2 Champions among their top 245 teams!

What is really the difference? If they split 6A into 2 separate divisions they will simply put 120 in the "top" division and the other half in the other division. Still a total of 2 Champions and it's just as likely that people would still debate which team was better anyway!

Not comparing it to other states BUT in many states there is no "true" Champion. Look no farther than Utah (a state with probably 1/10th the teams as Texas) for an example!

I like it too and don't have much issue with it.  It's nothing more than two classes really and both have been fairly competitive most years

Agree and sometimes I like the added suspense of who's going where! Remember 2 years ago when it went down to the wire to see if Katy might have gone D-1 (setting up a possible Katy- Allen matchup), it added some excitement, as opposed to if we already knew it wasn't possible at the beginning of the year!

They have about as much talent as anyone would think they have.

Dude I grew up on East Texas ball. Played East Texas ball in HS and have followed it all my life, I'm as familiar with East Texas as it gets.

Now that is a heckuva response.   Connman you owe me a bottle of Gatorade.  Cuz mine just escaped my frontal orifice with such force that a thousand tiny particles impacted my computer screen causing extreme condensation upon it.  9_9

They don't think WOS was elite either.  Yet Prepnation had them 10th in the whole SouthWest and Dave Campbell had them 12th in Texas and was considered to have the best defense in Texas regardless of class. So a WOS team that was no where near as great as this team beat a 5A playoff team but this team their best ever couldn't.  So should I believe this or what my lying eyes show me on the field.   Tyler Lee would have have got skull drugged by Gilmer and Carthage last year and many other 4A teams and WOS would have more than likely held them to less than 7 points last year.   Gilmer has produced NFL QB's, Lineman, CB's over the last decade but all that talent would lay down against the Tyler Lee's and others  Not every year but there are many years like you said 4A produce those teams.  Gilmer 2014 and WOS 2016 for sure.

I watched Carter dominate at ET by himself and WIllie Cole at Cedar Hill. But GIlmer with 2 4star kids in 2014 who were 2nd all time behind Aledo in pts scored in a season in Texas History Would get beat by the Lee's of the Texas.

WOS is very elite, within their own classification. lol

Put them up against JT/Longview/Lufkin/Lee...they get skull dragged.

Just like Mayweather would against Tyson.

Depth would obviously be the difference but I'm telling ya, talent is different too. Especially in the trenches. I mean goodness, I saw a friggin 6'6 380 RG playing for Longview in 2015. I've never seen an olinemen anywhere near that at Gilmer or Carthage.  No coincidence that players from Longview/JT/Lufkin are killing it both in college and NFL.

Meanwhile we have Kris Boyd from Gilmer at my school UT getting burnt by any and every wide receiver he faces. The dude is a horrid player. But sure got alot of pub coming out of HS. lol I tried telling people that the transition from small school ball to a big college FB factory is challenging. See Tyrone Swoopes. Do all small school guys struggle in college? No...but guarantee you that the big school guys struggle less.

Now I am starting to doubt you my man.  Really no OT from Gilmer.  WOW.  I got plenty more.  When is the last time Longview or Lufkin have a QB sign D1 or make an NFL Roster.  I didn't want to do this. Who is that below. We are not talking 1980's football in Texas anymore. Hell the #1 LB in all of Texas was from 4A Kennedale.

SNOW SIGNS WITH BUFFALO

David Snow was arguably the Longhorns' best blocker in 2011, earning some first-team All-Big 12 honors. Now, that skill has earned him a free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills, which he signed Sunday

Same damn year that Gilmer team in 2007 had 4 NFL players. LMAO

BROWN MAKES TWO

Curtis Brown was taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round Friday night, making him the second Longhorn, and second Texas defensive back, selected in the 2011 NFL Draft.
