TheMaximumHornetSting
Now this assignment requires me to get tallied votes... I was told That I could do it online and offline. Ive asked 20 people offline now I need atleast 8... I over did it with 20. 8 was the minimum requirement. Anyway, The question is: Do you think the Internet should have a Central Governing Body to monitor speech and online activity and to help prevent cyber bullying and should there be a seperate tax for internet usage? Fred
By internet usage are you talking about sales of items or using the internet?

Fred
Censored - no Taxed - maybe if you can figure out how to do. Truth is we are already taxed multiple times under other names.
TheMaximumHornetSting
I already finished my response.... my response had to be a 5 page essay... Our teacher put a poll on the class blackboard... Wow.... 56% of the college students that the professor surveyed said yes to a governing body on the internet... I feel like my generation is gonna make a mistake.... a big one... A governing body of the internet would be dangerous...
TheMaximumHornetSting
My response. Governing Body- Hell No... Taxation- not really sure where I stand... if it was at the federal level maybe... But I have a feeling theyd make it a state level affair... and GA already taxes us on literally every damn thing else.... so I'd have to say no.... TheMaximumHornetSting
A governing body on the internet would intefere with free speech greatly. With the way everybody cries about everything now a days there would be reports out the ass... And by Governing body yes that does include Internet Police,Watchers,Etc and it would have laws. Turning the internet into something like that would be a dangerous game to play... I remember the Sopa bill...

I don't remember it exactly like that. Here is an SNL skit from a couple weeks ago where the guy asks his gal to get a little freaky in the bedroom, and call him Daddy. Too funny. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/bedroom/3457933?snl=1

You already are taxed at the local, state and federal level. This is an area I work in and have some experience in. There are local franchise fees and 911 fees, state sales tax, federal excise taxes, universal service fees, you name it and they are taking a bite ... or whole meal. Some of these are voice fees, some are data/internet fees but taxed you are.
GloryDays
ISP's should be classified as utilities, that would help clean up a few things.

TheMaximumHornetSting
Bad part about GA taxes can vary by county.... Where as most states Have a set tax... I know here in Savannah-Chatham County. Sales tax is 7% While in Tift County its 3% While in Atlanta-Fulton its 9% Believe it or not... La grange-Troup county is probably the highest at 10% gorgeous area of GA but its costly...
TheMaximumHornetSting
Wow I was Wrong.... The most Expensive Taxed areas in GA are not the Atlanta Metro counties (Except for Cobb and Cherokee) The most expensive taxed areas in GA are the FL border Counties and TN border counties... Tift has to be more than 3% since the state base is 4%. You may be looking at their local option that they use for capital projects such as roads, parks, government buildings, etc.
