Trump and Australia

I know Australia:  I have travelled there, done business with and have several close friends who live in Sydney and the Gold Coast.  I also know that Australia has been our allies and best friends since World War I-100 years ago.  They have fought beside us and died for and with us in every war since.  They have shed blood with us.  Americans are loved in Australia-just as we stand shoulder to shoulder with them when they visit here.

Now Trump.

The piece of shit, Trump, who is loyal only to himself and no one else-except perhaps Putin who has bombed hospitals and children in Syria.

This has gone far enough.  The time is now-I hate Trump pretending to stand behind the American flag.  It is a disgrace what he is doing to our friends whether Australia, England (9 to 1 in a poll against him), Germany (Angela Merkel-American (American!!!) violation of the Geneva Convention), Mexico (who some years import more than they export to us), Canada (who open their arms to us and to refugees.  Has anyone on here been to Vancouver or Toronto recently?  Or San Francisco, New York or D. C.? )

We may not have a friend left on Earth after Trump has belittled, attacked and attempted to con everyone else.

He is not an American.  He is a disgrace to our country and our friends who have fought beside us and died with us fighting for what we are founded on.  I have apologized one time too many to friends in Sydney, Vancouver, Manchester and Munich.  What has happened to America?  Why do Americans support him?  Do Americans really agree with what he says?

"Joe, are other Americans like Trump?"

He needs to go.  Wherever, but he needs to go now.

There is certainly a pattern forming here. The president of course says we (peons I suppose he meant) should not worry about his tough phone calls. I assume he is only positioning with these calls and gambling that these countries won't toss the USA aside over a little tough negotiating. His condescending tone toward the people by saying we shouldn't worry about these calls is tough to stomach for sure though.

Will these other countries toughen their take on us due to him? I guess we are all on the: We are going to find out whether we want to or not train. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN OR BUST no. 765 leaving 5 minutes. ALLLLL ABOOOOOARD!

I hope the those reading this understand that when we, Americans, visit and walk down the street in Sydney, Perth, Vancouver, Toronto and elsewhere on Earth there is a new perspective accorded us:  Trump.  Do we agree with him?  Do we have the same values?  Are we as critical of the home country we are visiting as he has been?  Or of its Prime Minister or President?  Mexico City?  Where else on earth can we visit and be reminded of him?

My wife and I were in Toronto recently and the cab driver who picked us up at the airport asked us if most Americans agree with Trump?  Were we, sitting in his cab, like Trump?  Did we share his values of refugees?

Trump is making this difficult for many of us.  Americans are not like him.  There are people on Earth who care about us and like us and many, will die on a battlefield with us.  But they are also starting to ask questions.

Are more Americans like Trump?

I agree totally.

I found my center again today though upon a bit of looking inside myself. I find that to know another, we must first understand our self. I think that I have come to somewhat of an understanding as to what the president is up to, although I do not like the tactics and I know I won't like the good old "enemy of my enemy is my friend" approach that's coming.

I know that suffering usually comes from some action that we did to immediately cause it upon our self, just as joy is a product of that as well. I make a conscious decision to not suffer unduly at this point.

The issue is:  Trump has promised what he can't deliver.  Do you know that many of the parts in a Harley are made in Mexico and assembled in the U. S.?  Natural gas has replaced coal mining?  Automation and robotics (which I hate!) are the real reason for the loss of jobs?  The majority of products in Costco and WalMart are made offshore:  if made in the U. S. they will cost significantly more.  Reopening factories involve labor @12.00 an hour-Trump is not in favor of any minimum wage, let alone Unions.

Trump has promised Churches, retirees (won't mess with Social Security or Medicare), unemployed workers in small towns (many of whom depend on Obamacare) and almost everyone else whatever they need to hear.

As Ted Cruz and almost every other Republican said:  Trump is a Con Man.  He will say whatever people need to believe.

A year from now many reading this will have changed their opinion.  Or wondering what happened to their medical care or where the job is that they were promised?

We are taking the said detainees from Australia... The disgrace may be you for not knowing all the facts...or worse, NOT saying what the final outcome will be.. The issue has been cleared.

We have international agreements being reneged on, these are not building deals that he are trying and scam a better profit from as he has done his whole life.

At least they should not be.

His daddy can't bail him, us out, like his daddy did in AC when he screwed up.

Last comment and then I am shutting up (at least for the night).  I am not a Ted Cruz fan (I like Kasich, McCain and Graham-all Republicans).  but I remember when Trump went after his wife:  a Harvard MBA who is eminently successful.  And Carly Fiorina.  And more and more and more.

I also remember Paul Ryan.  And the Bush family.  All of them.

It is Trump versus the world.  At some point many will understand why everyone else disagrees with him.

Addendum:  by the way:  where is the First Lady?  Why isn't she with her husband?  Several publications are saying she will not move to D. C. when Barron finishes school.  25-30 people have yet to be hired for what otherwise would be her support team.  She'll stay in New York where it is costing us a literal fortune to accommodate her.

My guess is that this has all turned out for the best for Melania:  Donald is out of her life.  She finally has peace and despite being First Lady prefers to spend it on her own.  I must note that the day she flew back to New York from D. C. was their wedding anniversary.

Again, I agree totally. The guy lacks knowledge on the simplest of things, but chooses to speak on them anyway. I figured his "team" would be all over that for him, and of course they spin it hard after the fact, but I prefer that he get started studying now so he doesn't look like an idiot more often than not at least. His attitude that "we" knew that he was this and that and didn't know about this and that, yet "we" still elected him is getting boring and sillier by the day.

...And I'm trying to grade him on a curve.

An Example: I would personally have preferred him to just not speak on Black History Month at all. Not sure how the African-American population took it, but I was embarrassed that the guy botched it that bad. Not embarrassed for him, but for us all.

It was disappointing to hear, but frankly him botching BHM is small potatoes for me.  There are much bigger train wrecks heading our way he needs to get ready for.  (as you all have mentioned)

He is the elected President of the US.  Get over it.  You can oppose him - but he isn't "going" anywhere.

Let me ask you this about Australia, what's there refugee policy and where are these refugee camps at there....

This is most interesting about these refugees.

NorCal-

Trump may have been on very solid footing criticizing Australia-who is trying to pawn off these refugees on us.  It may have well been a "dumb" deal.  And friends should be able to speak frankly with one another and not have it splashed on the front page of the Post or Times.  Trump will learn he has very few friends in Washington.

I think that perhaps the Australian approach is what some of us here discussed at one point. We were debating how to do our part for the world community and still remain safe while trying to vet the refugees. I think part of what is lost in the most recent discussion is, we can vet the refugees from Australia before we just say yes.

I'm not sure a Guantanamo Bay type solution is the best thing, because as we saw already, people get kind of just tossed away there and hardly ever got prosecuted or released at all. If there is actually a plan for doing something with the people and not just leaving them indefinitely, then maybe that's a half decent option.

If Trump came up with this refugee island idea tomorrow he would be called a Nazi and the half America would be in a uproar.

The last part was the UN called for these camps to be closed because of condition and amount of rape and abuse to women and kids. These are the type of refugee lottery we are going to accept in?

I agree his message is awful. He acts like a clown and any good he does will be overshadowed by it.

Example: the wall, Obama, Hillary and Biden just to note a few voted for fence border. Trump is racists and nazi because he wants a wall. His words got in way of same act others have done.

I personally am glad we have a president that's taking a stand for our country as a whole but embarrassed by the messenger  .
