17 out of 18 districts went from pro Beijing people to pro democracy in Hong kong. People are sick of big government all around the world

HONG KONG — Pro-democracy forces swept Hong Kong district council elections over the weekend, boosting pressure on the city's Beijing-backed government to listen to protesters' demands for greater freedoms.

China responded sternly to the landslide in the vote widely seen as a referendum on public support for the anti-government movement. Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that no matter how the situation in Hong Kong changes, the semiautonomous region is part of China.

Interesting u would say that since the numbers are from.the articles and I just posted the follow up article about beijing now retaliating

I think he meant your interpretation about it being a rejection of “big government” writ large.

Still a good result, and ultimately telling that is what he chose to focus on rather than the people of Hong Kong standing up for their rights.

Riots all over the world. People voting against the establishment in Hong kong spain usa etc. Of course he would focus on the point he did rather than the hong kong people standing up for their rights against a communist government
