Newman's Arch Manning and Milton's L.T. Overton: 2021 City of Palms Basketball Classic.

Recommended Posts

Don't see that often.......the the #1 and #3 rated football prospects in the Class of 2023 taking it to the hardwood at the City of Palms Classic.

Arch is a fair basketball player......another Newman football player TE Will Randle (LSU offers, etc) plays as well and adds some muscle/size at 6-4. No doubt Newman is trying to build a power with Randy Livingston running the show. He was pretty great at Newman back in the day.

Newman (NOLA)

  • 6-5 JR Chris Lockett, Jr. #9 (NBN) … #25 (247 Sports) … #28 (PrepHoops) … #1LA (PrepHoops)
  • 6-0 JR Canin Jefferson #8LA (PrepHoops)
  • 6-8 SOPH Todd Jones
  • 6-3 JR Arch Manning #3 football (Rivals)

If Randy Livingston’s name rings a bell, it’s because he was a McDonald’s All-American who played parts of 11 NBA seasons with nine different teams. His effect as a head coach has been almost immediate, as an ultra-young roster, led by 6-5 JR Chris Lockett (18.6 ppg, 8 rpg, 4.1 apg, 2.3 steals), stormed all the way to the Division III championship game. The Greenies fell short in a 52-48 loss to No. 2-seeded Dunham at Lake Charles’ Burton Coliseum, but the future is bright. Newman’s sophomores accounted for 46 points in a 54-45 semifinal win over Holy Savior Menard, including 14 points and four steals by 6-0 JR Canin Jefferson (14.3 ppg, 3.9 apg) … The lineup includes promising 6-8 SOPH Todd Jones (7.2 ppg, 5.5 rpg), 6-3 JR Will Randle (7.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg) and 6-3 JR Arch Manning, the nation’s No. 1 quarterback prospect in the Class of 2023.

Milton (Atalnta)

  • 6-2 SR Bruce Thornton (OHIO STATE) #20 (Rivals) … #23 (247 Sports) … #29 (PrepHoops)
  • 6-2 JR Kanaan Carlyle #11 (PrepHoops) … #15 (247 Sports) … #17 (ESPN, Rivals)
  • 6-7 SR Kendall Campbell #103 (PrepHoops) … #106 (Rivals)
  • 6-3 JR L.T. Overton #1 football (Rivals)

The young team that beat Berkmar 52-47 to claim the championship in Georgia’s largest classification, then nearly shocked IMG Academy in the GEICO Nationals, returns virtually intact in 2021-22 – led by a dynamite guard duo of Ohio State pledge 6-2 SR Bruce Thornton (17 ppg, 9 apg, 7 rpg) and 6-2 JR Kanaan Carlyle (18.0 ppg, 5 rpg, 3.5 apg). Up front, Coach Allen Whitehart’s squad is strong with 6-7 SR Kendall Campbell and 264-pound brute 6-3 JR L.T. Overton. Milton, the 2010 City of Palms runner-up, also benefits from two new arrivals, 6-2 SR Chase Cormier (14.3 ppg, 6.0 apg at Greenforest GA) and 6-7 SR Jonathan Murray (Birmingham Huffman AL). … Thornton was a first-team MaxPreps Sophomore (2020) and Junior (2021) All-American. He scored 29 points in a 90-77 win over Wheeler, and had 18 points, nine assists and six boards in the 73-68 loss to IMG, a game in which Overton grabbed 10
