Alabama WR Isaiah Bond Enters Transfer Portal After Nick Saban's Retirement (commits to Texas)

Bond is in Austin this weekend. And,

"Bond is a big loss for Alabama. He was the first Alabama player to enter the transfer portal following Nick Saban’s decision to retire earlier this week. All Alabama players have a 30-day window to enter the transfer portal because of the coaching change.

It’s unclear if Bond will give new Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer an opportunity to keep him in the fold. DeBoer does have a strong track record with developing wide receivers at Washington. The Huskies’ trio of Jalen McMillan, Ja’lynn Polk and Rome Odunze are all expected to be drafted to the NFL.

Last season as a sophomore, Bond caught 48 passes for 668 yards and 4 touchdowns. His yardage was second to only Jermaine Burton amongst Alabama receivers in 2023.

DeBoer does have some work to do at the receiver position as he looks to retain Alabama’s roster. In addition to losing Bond and Burton (NFL Draft), the Tide also lost 5-star commit Ryan Williams following Saban’s retirement. Williams is expected to officially sign with a program in February.

Bond is perhaps best known for his game-winning touchdown catch in the Iron Bowl against Auburn to close out the regular season. He likely would have been Alabama’s No. 1 receiver in 2024 had he chosen to remain with the program."
