Thomas Roach
Found this gem. Sharing as many say it was one of the better state title games in Florida history. Southeast beat Aquinas 28-14 in the playoffs that year and George Smith said it was one of the most talented teams he had ever seen (He was the Athletic Director that year before returning back to coaching). Southeast also started out USA Today preseason #1 but lost 15-10 to Sarasota Riverview with Peter Warrick out. Mater Dei ended up finishing #1 that year. 1
Adam Kurkjian
I'm here for every 90's HS football video on the internet. Thanks for posting.
Thomas Roach
Hazell Stoudemire (Amare's brother) did not play football but could have. He was on their undefeated basketball team that was 34-0 and also won a state title.

Yeah I'd agree w/ that statement. For whatever the reason, the 90's seem to have some of the best football over the last 4 decades for me. Can't speak for the 50's 60's or 70's tho but I just don't think so.
Buttmunch
http://aquinasfootball.homestead.com/files/Raider_Tradition/NewsArticles/1994/Outmanned_St_Thomas.html It wasn't Mike Smith but Mike Spencer who made that claim. Unless Mike Spencer changed his last name to Smith or the journalist messed up the name. “We were outmanned,” said St. Thomas coach Mike Spencer. “There wasn’t a single matchup outside of our receivers where we were more talented than they were. That’s the most talented team St. Thomas has played in my 12 years as coach there.” “We tried to start off with the running game, but they have to have the best front seven in the state, if not the country,” said Marciante, who was repeatedly hit and was sacked five times. badrouter
George Smith had a couple of years break as head coach around that time. I'm sure others can fill you in on exact details.
