TheMaximumHornetSting
Ive been keeping a close eye on the 2 bills that lie before Senate to get rid of the GHSA and there High up Oligharcy of idiots.... And Im a bit behind on how the house works Ive been out of government and Politics for some while now... But recently the house had a favorable vote in the termination of the GHSA... I believe it was the 27th of February. They voted and apparently the vote was in favor of the bills... to terminate the GHSA. This came shortly after the GHSA made the dumbass decision to host the Baseball State Championships in Savannah and Rome... thats stupid as hell.... btango
Normally on state championships local facilities/towns bid for the games. Who bid against them, if anyone, and why did they pick those two. Need to know more.

btango
If there are seven classifications would it not be tight scheduling for baseball to use only facility? Is GA baseball a three game series or just a straight one game for the title?

I believe in GA its a 3 game series.... but they play throughout the week.not only that the reason this is dumb is because in GA Baseball Championships swap between the 2 schools... Not anymore.... Not anymore.... High school baseball in Ga....."Best of three"..... They don't bid.....They don't swap. The higher seed hosts. If they're "like seeds", then they flip a coin to see who will host the series. If it goes to a game 3, the visitors will have to come back the next day, as the first two games are usually played in the evening.

Local restaurants/businesses that support high school athletics won't be getting the traffic...... Some of these team's fans travel well. This year's GHSA calendar has the championship games with NO double headers. The below was copied and pasted from the GAVSV forum. http://www.ghsa.net/sites/default/files/documents/CALENDAR16-17.pdfFor those many High Schools conducting 2017 Graduation Exercises on Thursday(5/26) or Saturday(5/27) - Let's hope you don't make the Baseball Finals or your seniors will very possibly miss their High School Graduation if they want to play in the Baseball Championships. Game "Day & Time" "flexibility" went out the window when the GHSA decided to rent and use GHSA selected "neutral site" stadiums now reportedly (but not finalized) Savannah's - Grayson and Rome's - State Mutual. The "new" GHSA brainchild best of three format has no (that's be zero) double headers so each team will play one game per day (at either Savannah or Rome), starting Thursday 5/26. Interestingly - for the first time I ever remember - since the Semis are scheduled Wed(5/17) and "if" game Thursday(5/18).... there will be a 6 to 7 day "layoff" between the Semis and the Finals and same from Quarters to Semis. In previous year playoffs - that layoff was generally 4 or 5 days. So... Pitching rotations may get a break in the 2017 playoff structure. Also of note for the 2017 season - Teams can schedule 30 games (rather than twenty six games) under certain circumstances. btango
Do you think the football state title games should be at a neutral site? I like neutral sites that are geographically central for the two teams in a facility that is of top quality. The geography and often times the quality of the facility can be questionable. Baseball is tough because of multiple games so it knocks out the home and away option. Some schools do not have the best facilities or enough seating. Playing at the school is great for the home team but I think the neutral site is best for providing fairness to both finalists.

What the GHSA did to baseball also happened to Basketball and everybody has shown negative Feedback towards it..... Because like Base said it hurts the schools Gate money... Cartersville is a premier GA Baseball program theyve been to CA,FL,TX and LA. They also host a national Tournament. The GHSA has been cutting and with holding funds in Cartersville Baseball and Football. Ever since that Bill passed Congress to Terminate the GHSA they have been making some irrational decisions....
