Buttmunch
Sarasota Riverview was good in the late 80's and early 90's. Battled with Southeast and Manatee. In fact, they gave the 94 Southeast team their only loss while Peter Warrick was out injured or Southeast would have likely finished #1 in USA Today that year. Instead, Mater Dei finished #1. I actually believe Sarasota Riverview in 1994 was in the top 5 of USA Today (maybe #2 or #3) before they lost to Pensacola Washington, who ended up winning the state title that year or they may have finished on top of USA Today. China Smith was the RB. Smith was offered football scholarships from the University of Florida, Florida State University, University of Miami, Michigan, and Notre Dame, but he turned all of them down to become a professional boxer. Amp Campbell also came out of Sarasota Riverview and committed to Nick Saban at Michigan State, but I think he graduated a year earlier in 1993. Sarasota/Bradenton had some great teams in the 80's and 90's. Now IMG has taken over but none of the local teams outside of Venice will play them. Pine Forest on the other hand won state 1988. They also won state in 2000 over St. Thomas Aquinas. Extra bit of information - St. Thomas Aquinas beat Pine Forest in 1992 for their first state title.
