China and Covid redux

So China now has a significant Delta variant breakout in many major cities including Wuhan.  Came in on a Russian airliner and spread like wildfire.  Karma’s a bitch.

Good news for us, the levers China will pull to react and shut down will cause a shift in global oil supply and pricing.  So, gas prices gonna come down sometime soon.  Biden will be the beneficiary of this good fortune.

But, those products we’ve all been waiting for, well expect the delays to continue and likely increase.  Maybe this time we’ll learn the lesson and develop alternate sources.  Maybe create jobs for the millions of new residents pouring over the border.

I’m not going to argue your point, other than to look at it from a position of perspective.  The size of the levers is much different.  Think of the hundreds of millions $ of products in Europe, Asia, and the Americas being held up by relatively inexpensive computer chips required as part of the control systems for a variety of industrial products.  The hit  at the finished good level is far more significant than at the component level in China.  The world needs to learn a lesson from that.
