Could the NJ senate race be 2018’s Alabama?

Seen reference to some polling that this race may be close.  Menendez is obviously a very flawed candidate with high negatives.  If the GOP won this, could be an awful night for Senate Democrats.  Even if they have to spend significant $ to win it, takes $ from elsewhere.

Hugin is certainly within striking distance of Menendez. Something like a million dems voted against Menendez in the primary. If hugin can get some of those people to flip to him he can win

Unlikely win for the GOP. Too many libtards who will vote party.

Would be hilarious though and a major blow to the left.

Trump lost the state by 500K.  But unlike New York, there is no huge city that dominates.  The GOP needs to run better in the NY suburbs (Bergen, Passaic) and counties like Morris.  The GOP has had success in governor’s races.

Unfortunately there's just a lot of places in NJ that vote Democrat for whatever reason. Lots of union workers and with union workers come Democrat votes

The Democrats are losing their grip on the union, and more generally, the blue collar vote.  It was the story of the 2016 election.  Public unions are Democrat - although police and fire less so.

Right and hopefully with this trend they vote hugin in November. Unfortunately they just voted in a Democrat governor so the state is screwed but at least Menendez will be gone. People like my aunt though who votes trump is not happy at all with SCOTUS ruling on the unions

Will never happen.  I’ve seen this play before.

NJ is one of the “great white whales” of Republican politics.  The GOP candidate always polls closely in summer and early fall as gets everyone’s hopes up.  But the Democrats come home inevitably and their candidate will win by 10-12 points.
