Only a couple scores caught my eye.

Madison beating South Sumter 18-13 is a solid start for Mad. Co. South Sumter is usually pretty good on the 4A level, looks like Madison will be a strong contender for the 1A title again.

And Lennard beating Plant 29-22 shows that last year's 4-6 nosedive for Plant isn't an aberration. Lennard is your basic, "pretty good" local team and Plant needed a 15-0 4th quarter run just to lose by 7.

Plant went from 13-1, to 12-2, to 8-4, to 4-6 over the last 4 years. That was an incredible 15 year run of always being one of the best teams in the state that slammed shut VERY abruptly.

A lot of the scores included was more about including teams who were involved in our preview list

Currently with a lot of the state not starting yet it has opened up the opportunity for others in the state to get noticed, though I will note Madison normally plays higher Classification teams and while they probably win 1a I don't see them finishing undefeated

The closest example of plant I can think of is maybe Dwyer or Flanagan as well but Flanagan fell quicker then plant and Dwyer

Up here maybe First Coast from late 00s to 2014 falling off in 2015 could be another example

Rapid declines usually happen more frequently in urban areas. Often all it takes is change in coaching staff. With open transfer season now available to the kids, any negative change in staffing leads to rapid abandonment of many programs.

Take away good coaching and any program will crumble whether right or wrong,

History like nature has an odd way of repeating itself. 😩

Pretty much.

Being a dominant coach for so long got Weiner a great job at Toledo. Hopefully he does well and continues to advance his career; going to be very weird seeing Plant consistently suck.

One thing with metros, when someone falls someone else rises

Seems right now the teams in Tampa rising is Gaither and Tampa Bay Tech

Met him at a conference about 4 years ago and talked to him for about 20-30 minutes.

interesting guy and quite knowledgeable not only with Florida football but complimentary to Ohio, Jersey & Texas football.

Wish him good luck at Toledo but sucks that MAC is sidelined this year.
