MA Fan
Proposal was passed by a 324-307 vote. This is an enormous and sure to be controversial change. It will not take effect until 2021. In theory it makes OOS games more attractive because only district play will count towards playoff qualification, but in reality I suspect most teams will use their non-district games to schedule conference rivals that aren't in their district. https://www.pantagraph.com/sports/high-school/football/proposal-to-set-up-ihsa-football-districts-passes/article_184ef2ec-84ea-5389-88d0-36b20228a776.html
abbatt
It`s going to eliminate rivalry games and potentially set-up terrible travel problems. As one Chicago public coach commented......Imagine a team from the far South suburbs having to travel to Gately stadium in the City on a Friday for a 6 p.m game....ridiculous. In 6A, we have 32 Districts, divided into 4 Regions. Travel usually isn't an issue for anyone other than the West Texas and Panhandle teams. Those two areas are more sparsely populated than the rest of the state. Look at a map and see how far Odessa Permian has to travel to play Amarillo Tascosa, a district foe. It's a 4 hour bus ride. One way.

El Paso to Amarillo is a short, 7 hour trip...if you don't stop to pee.
