DevilDog
Looks like Texas does rule: Track guys know that Texas doesn't run a 3K, 5K, or 10K or ST. If we did this chart would look more slanted. And if you list the top 10 times in each event that Texas participates track guys will not be surprised. You shouldn't have representatives in events you don't participate in. Of course A kid from Ark. can be the fastest in the U.S. and have 4 Texans, 4 Floridians and 4 Cali kids right behind him. http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/index.php/records/30-records/277-mens-outdoor-high-school-records Best Marks in HS-Only Competition (if an event is not listed here, then the main record was in HS competition) 100 10.15 Henry Neal (Greenville, Texas) Austin, Texas 5/12/90 200 20.13 Roy Martin (Roosevelt, Dallas, Texas) Austin, Texas 5/11/85 400 45.19 Aldrich Bailey (Timberview, Arlington, Texas) Lubbock, Texas 4/28/12 1500 3:44.0 Jim Ryun (East, Wichita, Kansas) Wichita, Kansas 5/15/65 Mile 3:58.3 Jim Ryun (East, Wichita, Kansas) Wichita, Kansas 5/15/65 2M 8:34.40 German Fernandez (Riverbank, California) Greensboro, North Carolina 6/20/08 St 9:02.56 Noel Bateman (Aquinas, Rochester, New York) Canton, New York 6/10/06 3000 7:59.83 German Fernandez (Riverbank, California) Greensboro, North Carolina 6/20/08 5000 13:55.96 Chris Derrick (Neuqua Valley, Naperville, Illinois) Arcadia, California 4/12/08 10,000 30:30.2 Jack Cuvo (Easton, Pennsylvania) Annandale, New Jersey 7/12/85 110 Hurdles 13.30 Chris Nelloms (Dunbar, Dayton, Ohio) Dayton, Ohio 5/26/90 Int’l 110H 14.39 Arthur Blake (Haines City, Florida) Winter Park, Florida 5/26/84 400 Hurdles 49.56 Robert Griffin (Copperas Cove, Texas) Knoxville, Tennessee 8/01/07 Sprint Medley 3:21.1 Berkeley, California Sacramento, California 4/25/81 (Charles Clewis 21.8, Walter Murray 21.1, Kenny Robinson 47.5, Pete Richardson 1:50.7) HJ 2.29 | 7-6 Dothel Edwards (Cedar Shoals, Athens, Georgia) Athens, Georgia 7/09/83 LJ 8.06 | 26-6 Carl Lewis (Willingboro, New Jersey) Naperville, Illinois 6/09/79 Int’l SP 20.21 |66-4 Michael Carter (Jefferson, Dallas, Texas) Abilene, Texas 5/05/79 Int’l DT 54.96 |180-4 Charles Moye (Ellet, Akron, Ohio) Kent, Ohio 6/13/87 Jr HT 71.63 | 235-0 Walter Henning (St Anthony’s, S Huntington, New York) Providence, Rhode Island 4/07/07 Int’l HT 56.46 | 185-3 Adam Connolly (Springbrook, Silver Spring, Maryland) Raleigh, North Carolina 6/19/94 Jr Dec 7524 Gunnar Nixon (Santa Fe, Edmond, Oklahoma) Arcadia, California 4/08-09/11 (11.06, 7.14/23-5¼, 12.14/39-10, 2.02/6-7½, 48.37 [4022], 14.60, 35.38/116-1, 4.40/14-5¼, 52.00/170-7, 4:39.64 [3502]) January 02, 2017

954gator
What ever happened to that Bailey kid from Texas. I remember there being 3-4 great 400m runners in that same span and I'm not sure any really broke the olympic contender barrier.

He went to A&M, turned pro and now is a senior at the Univ of Texas and competing for them in track. I still remember that wicked 400 in HS that got him the minimum standard for the US Olympic trials after graduating.

Essentially, that's what Schwartz had yesterday, but it's only March and he's getting faster each race it seems.
