Nation's Longest HS Sports Winning Streak Ends

McDonogh (MD) girls lacrosse saw their win streak end at 198 games with a 10-8 loss to Notre Dame Prep in the IAAM A Conference Championship Game.

McDonogh has won 9 consecutive national championships.

McDonogh had beaten 43 opponents from 9 states, D.C. and Canada during the streak.

Their last loss was on April 11th, 2009 to Canadaigua (NY).

They fall 20 games shy of the team record for any sport of 218 games held by Baskin (LA) girls basketball from 1947 to 1953. It was 95 games longer than the previous record for girls lacrosse held by Mount Hebron (MD).

When you say they fall short of the the record for any sport I’m not sure if that is girls only?

Brandon, FL wrestling team won 459 straight matches.

Brecksville girls gymnastics won 777 straight matches.

nonetheless the steak by McDonogh is very impressive. 👍

I meant team sports. Should have clarified. Lots of individual sports with longer winning streaks.
