Coach Fabrizio Q&A

PrepGridiron

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Coach Fabrizio will be joining us Tuesday, November 6th at 8PM EDT.

First, we'd like to welcome Coach Fabrizio to Prepgridiron.com.

Coach Dean Fabrizio is the coach at Lee County, in Leesburg, Georgia. Coach Fabrizio is in his tenth season at Lee County after leading Lee County to its first football state championship last year. Prior to becoming the head coach at Lee County, Coach Fabrizio served as the defensive coordinator for Peach County. A native of Orlando, Florida, coach Fabrizio played at Lake Howell and coached in the Orlando area before coming to Georgia. His team is currently 10-0 and is seeking to repeat as state champion in Georgia Class AAAAAA.

In collaboration with PrepGridiron Logistics, coach has been kind enough to give us some of his time and answer several questions posed by the members of this board. As we have done in the past, we will be asking coach the questions and he will be responding in the thread. We will be asking coach five questions and expect to open up the floor to members. Feel free to respond and ask questions, note, however, that it will be at Coach's discretion whether he responds further. Lastly, we ask that you keep your responses civil and on topic. The thread will be heavily moderated so that we can encourage other coaches to come on in the future. Thanks again, Coach, and everyone enjoy.

The first question will be asked at 8PM EDT on November 6th.

We lost a lot of good players off last years team but we had a really good foundation coming back.  In addition our JV team had been undefeated for a couple of years so we new we had some really good players waiting their turn.  So coming into the season we thought we could be pretty good.  The way we have played this year has certianly exceeded expectations though.

I don't know if you can pinpoint one thing.  It has been a very steady and long process.  We never really talked about winning a state title.  That first year we were just trying to win a game.  Than it became if we can just have a winning season here.  Than it was just make the playoffs.  Than if we could just win a playoff game.  Than it became can we just make a run in the playoffs.  Now, it seems it is can we repeat.

Well, we are in the first year of a two year scheduling cycle so it woudl be hard for us to play next season.  We have a lot of respect for Caoch Probst, the CC program and their fan base.  Right now we are both undefeated and ranked #1 in the two highest classes in GA.  I think that shows how good football is here in SW GA,

Honestly, coach, saw you guys ranked in PrepNation's Top 25 in the country poll along with Colquitt and had to give my props to the Sowega region. Very impressive!

Question 4:

Can you give us some insight into the team you have this year, including top prospects and their offers?

We are blessed as all good programs are to have some great players.  Jammie Robinson is a major recruit as a DB and kick returner.  right now his top schools are Tenn, USC, Auburn and UGA.  Tay Mayo is another DB with Power 5 offers and just took an official visit to Nebraska.  DL Deangelo CArter is committed to Minn.  OL Griffin Carder is committed to Georgia Southern.  WE have several other seniors who will most likely sign with FCS or D2 schools.  We have had a streak of really good QB's here and our current junior Kyle Toole is the best we have had.  He will be a major recurit next year.  Sophmore WR Chauncey Magwood and Soph LB Baron Hopson both hold numerous D1 offers and will be major recruits.

Both GA and FLA have great football and great coaches.  It was a great experience to take on the defending 8 A state champion from FLA Dr. Phillips this past season.  Their Head Coach Rodney Wells actually played for me when I was an asst. at DP back in the mid 90's.  The biggest difference between the states is it seems that on average the situations in Georgia are better from a support standpoint.  The pay for coaches, facilities, etc. all seem to be better in GA,
