I think SJC may be appropriately ranked based on talent/ potential and they played a great schedule but top 5 seems a bit high for a team that lost before their championship game, got taken to 3 OTs by a 3-loss team, and got scared to death by a 6-loss team 

again, LV oddsmakers might correctly  have SJC as 5th beat team, but I think rankings have to reflect that their results are a bit light for that rarified air

if SJC had closed it out, I’d support them at #3 behind MD and NS, but they didn’t

It’s been out for awhile — believe his was first final poll (besides CP I guess)

he’s lower on Folsom than most at #23  (maybe anyone besides you whichnis whybyiu referenced him)

however, he still appropriately has them comfortably above oaks and JSerra 

(and, fwiw, he’s got the team you were threatening to drop to tier 4 #6, which is their average ranking)

let me know if you find validation anywhere else — make sure to check FLVarsity and things like that — leave no stone unturned

I think SJC would beat the teams ranked behind them but would not favor them in games vs teams ranked ahead of them. Are rankings based on who we think is a better team or must we go with the results on the field? If Oklahoma upsets Alabama who is the better team? And who gets ranked higher? Any ranking will depend on how one looks at it...upsets and close wins happen...doesn't always reflect a teams actual ability. That's why all rankings are simply matters of opinion...not right or wrong.

I would have said same thing 3+ years ago but hsfb landscape today is such that top teams are playing each other with much greater regularity 

first #1 v #2 ever was ‘01 — now we do it a couple of times per year 

your criteria sounds like a reasonable disqualified for an MNC but are choice this year is:

Team A

— Wins vs #2, 3, 4, and 9 (CP but close to comp)

— 3 additional top 100 wins (7 total) by an SBG MOV of 39 

— 5 additional (12 total) top 500 wins

— 23 point loss to #2

Team B

— 3 top 100 wins total by avg MOV of 10

– 5 additional top 500 wins (8 total)

 

the clear differences are that Team A played a much, much tougher schedule, and crushed it in a more dominating fashion, but has an ugly mole 

I think either approach is acceptable but I’d go with Cindy Crawford

Actually, I am working on my final poll tonight. It should be finalized by tomorrow morning. I want to do some more reviewing. I can tell you this, though, my top 20 won’t be changing that much. Maybe some slight shuffling of a few teams. I want to put out some regional rankings as well. That’s what is taking me a little longer.
