In the DC area the private school leagues and MD publics use a 30-second clock while the VA publics don't use it. TBH it rarely makes a big difference since teams don't hold the ball more than 30 seconds very often, but for end of quarter/half/game situations a shot clock is better IMO. On the other hand it is brutal if the clock operator is struggling and the refs have to keep stopping the game to fix something with the shot clock.
