paladin4ever
Btw, take a look at the five part Showtime documentary series now available on YouTube. Totally worth the view.
NYHSFAN33
Hurley is a great guy.....the school is in a tough spot. Unless some big donor comes in it looks like it's curtains for the school. Mt. Vernon sports program was bailed out a few years ago with a large donation by Mt. Vernon native Denzel Washington. Something similar seems to need to happen for St. Ant's. Anyone like a Denzel that's made it big outside of hoops? Doubt it. Honestly not sure, but the school has been serving the community well and it will be sad to see it disappear. I'm not familiar with the area, but it seems like basketball has kept a lot of kids there out of trouble.

Anyone like a Denzel that's made it big outside of hoops? Doubt it. Mainly have been pro athletes from St. Anthony. Baseball players too. Willie Banks and John Valentin to name a couple. Hurley has been able to tap into pro players in the past. Lebron donated quite a bit a few years back. Tough when this is a yearly battle. Aside from basketball, the bigger accomplishment for this small inner city Catholic school is the fact that they have had 100% college acceptances since 1992. That is the real legacy that St. Anthony's will leave behind. Unless a miracle happens between now and April 15th.

legendsofthefall
Hurley has saved the school from shutting the doors on several occasions before. I wouldn't be surprised if any of his former players who did well professionally came back to help. Not to mention Shaq who is a big supporter of the school and Hurley. Then Hurley can become AD at SPP and finally start scheduling some quality football opponents annually. Somehow I always felt the SPP AD and the football coach were in cahoots!
