I really don't get the argument posed against climate change. Folks like Drummer want to see theorists chase their tail in order to prove or disprove that humans can/are contributing to the faster warming of the planet with CO2 emissions and many other agents that damage the ozone like chlorine as a big one.

We all know that the planet will warm and cool naturally, as it's thought that there is a 100,000 year orbit cycle which has us closer to our star for half and further away for the other half. That of course means cooler or warmer temps in and of itself. Add to that loss of ozone due to pollutants and the addition of huge amounts of CO2 and I can't really see how one can argue that we have zero effect on the warming of the planet.

If we know what the eventual results of global warming could/will be... Why wouldn't we make some attempt at slowing it down or even curbing the progression?

Starvation is on the menu for most of the planet. Whether or not we can do anything about it is questionable, but I think that without a doubt we should try.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at the close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. -- Dylan Thomas

Excellent post Hawg.  I can only guess as to why our conservative leaders are not on board with climate change and that has to be money.  Besides being immoral on it's face, they are in danger of missing out on the greatest money making endevour in clean energy.  Amazing they cannot see It or refuse to see it due to being stubborn.

It does seem peculiar when our government chooses to back coal mining while at the same time considering to cut funding for science-based research. Making America great again is, to too many people, trying to turn back the clock to how things used to be. Unfortunately for many, progress is stressful to the point where it can't be handled and needs to be curbed. I sense there will be a resurgence of black-and-white TVs, "like there were in the old days... and we liked it!"

That's probably what's going on, wanting to to back to simple timed.  Though back then it was important to this country to be leaders in everything.  We didn't deny science but embraced it.  What we did do was ignore civil rights and that part is what a lot of people want to get back to.  No transgender rights, gay marriage and bring the church back to be the moral authority it once was.

Its a natural reaction and as the balance has shifted backwards a bit for now, It will naturally swing back. Imho.
