concha
Yes. Because it was socialist and communist societies that created the wealth and technologies the world has today. 🤡 The automobile, the computer, the internet, the agricultural advancements that feed the world, modern medicine... hell, the light bulb... air conditioning... Idiots like Darter post threads with communists and agree with them. Communists. How much death, destruction and misery has been unleashed on the world by Communists? How has the world benefited from them? Stagnation, hunger, oppressive states... But Darter gets a chubby about them. People like Darter are idiots deserving of nothing but scorn and derision. 2

I honestly don't give a shit if I ever make it This shouldn't be an issue in this country. You either have the resources to make it or you don't. Don't you ever speak about the people I know who overdosed. They were successful but had other issues. Gospeeder
Virtually everything Dallo outlined is totally correct. Problem is... I think most Americans will not agree to deal with the pain we will incur to correct our ship. For decades we all have become aware of the growing wealth gap between the rich and the rest of the country yet most have disregarded its final consequence. Many or maybe even most continue to buy into the same BS that those in control have fed us for decades. We see it everyday yet refuse to acknowledge it. The Lobbyists, the marketers, the media are constantly at the underlying core that supports the lies and corruption that has wormed its way into every aspect of our lives.

The Lobbyists, the marketers, the media are constantly at the underlying core that supports the lies and corruption that has wormed its way into every aspect of our lives. As Dalio says, capitalism is great for innovation. But not so great when it comes to providing viable opportunities for those at the bottom. When those at the top pass on all their advantages to their heirs, often by questionable means such as by buying their way in to competitive colleges, it only exacerbates the problem. It creates a warped capitalism that cannot grow the economy at a rate necessary for it to lift all boats. The blindness, willful or otherwise, that exists here is the chief reason their is so much anger in the country. An anger which now threatens its very foundation. Increasing police budgets is not the solution. Providing good jobs, jobs that can support a family is. But that is not being addressed for the big companies are hooked on buying products from low cost countries to sell us. In the process, they ignore the fact that if the consumer they market to does not have the resources to buy. Life is a two way street, and those who ignore that fact do so at their own peril.

You were the one that told me about those people. YOU should seriously consider what their issues were. And try to avoid them yourself. 3. Why do you need to get drunk? That is the question you should address. My dad was an alcoholic. It cost him his marriage because he could not hold down a job, and got mentally abusive when he drank. It drove him to his grave in his early 50s. It will destroy your life too if you find you need to stay drunk all the time.

For the people who died young yes its sad but at the same time at least the bullshit is over for them. Alot of their issues were family/friend related. Bad situations lead to bad things unfortunately some people can't find their way ot of these situations I dont need to get drunk. I want to get drunk. Helps me forget about the bullshit of everyday life. Helps me forget about the nonsense that we need to go through. I'm sorry your dad had that kind of personality. Yes alcohol can destroy many things but when you don't have much there isnt much to destroy. For those few hours of drinking I am somewhat happy even temporarily. Yes alcohol can destroy many things but when you don't have much there isnt much to destroy. For those few hours of drinking I am somewhat happy even temporarily. My dad was a well intentioned, but weak man. He used alcohol to deal with a difficult world. But he gave me one great gift for which I am forever grateful. He instilled in me, his only child, a life long love of learning. Our politics differed quite a bit. For, had he been an American, I would best describe him as an Eisenhower or Rockefeller Republican. But I do know he was horrified by the prospects of a Goldwater Presidency. For I first became acquainted with American politics during that election cycle, when as a little boy, he explained to me why Goldwater would be a disaster not only for America, but for the world. My own politics were not shaped by my dad. Nor were they shaped by my mom. For while she never troubled herself with US politics, from her Jamaican politics, she clearly leaned conservative. My own politics were shaped both by my A level History teacher who greatly admired George Orwell (this may come as a shock to many right wingers here as they view Orwell as a conservative. Hint, he was not despite his most famous work), and by my conclusion when studying Economics that there were just too many holes in the Monetarist and Rational Expectations view of the economy. In short, I concluded that unregulated capitalism was not only immoral and exclusionary to the majority of working folks, but it also did not work as a practical matter.
