Ohio Week 4

Time for the weekly Ohio preview, brought to you by GardenStateBaller!

Mixed bag this week. The D1 field looks muddled after St. Edward. Moeller and X took it on chin against out-of-state opponents and a hobbled Springfield team drops its second in a row.  D2, on the other hand, is flexing its muscles. Avon throws themselves squarely into the mix after a nice win against Glenville.

1. St. Edward (#1, beat Rock Creek Christian (MD) 42-14) -  Two defensive TD's, a kick return for a TD, and 3 offensive TD's en route to a running clock performance. Biggest concern right now is Bullock's penchant for INT's, of which he has 6 through 3 games. That needs to be cleaned up this week with the first long bus trip of the year to the Pit to take on Elder team that always looks to play spoiler to Ed's. @ Elder

2. Hoban (#2, beat Trinity Episcopal (VA) 34-6) - Another resounding win for the Knights as their defense continues to suffocate its opponents. vs. Akron East

3. Massillon (#3, beat Mansfield Senior 51-10) - One more tune-up game this week before the week 5 showdown with St. Edward. vs. Elkhart (IN)

4. TCC (#4, beat DCC (MI) 42-21) - Could TCC be the second best team in the state again this year?  Maybe. Hard to see a loss coming on their schedule and I don't know that they will have a serious threat in D3. @ Brother Rice (MI)

5. Avon (others, beat Glenville 24-16) - Big jump this week for Avon after knocking off Glenville. It was a one score game but Avon was in control most of the outing. With no TCC in their way in R6 this year they should be in great position for a final 4 birth. @ Elyria

6. Pick North (others, beat Upper Arlington 28-8) - Giving PN a big bump this week after a convincing win over UA, combined with two other nice wins against Elder and Pine-Richland. The battle of Pickerington is this week and this is a chance to show they have overtaken PC. vs. Pick Central

7. Glenville (#6, lost to Avon 24-16) - Can't drop the Tarblooders too much, but they will need much better QB play if they can hope to keep it within 3 scores of IMG in a few weeks. vs. John Adams

8. Gahanna-Lincoln (#10, beat Olentangy Liberty 46-28) - The Lions trailed heading into the 4th quarter before exploding for 27 points in a comeback effort. vs. Reynoldsburg

9. Winton Woods (#9, beat West Clermont 21-13) - Much closer than expected game against West Clermont. If not for so many other teams losing, I probably would have dropped them. @ Turpin

10.  Princeton (others, beat Lakota East 30-16) - R4 four is wide open right now and Princeton looks to be the best of the bunch...at the moment. @ Mason

Others: Elder, X, Olentangy, Medina, Cleveland Heights, Hudson, Moeller, Lakota West, Riverside, Chardon, Canton McKinley, Walsh Jesuit, Centerville, Pick Central, Trotwood-Madison

If Mentor got its kicking team out a couple seconds quicker, Iggy would be winless.  Good times.

Iggy is 1-3 and should be 0-4.  Expect the PD to still have them ranked in the top 25.

Well, they probably are still among the 25 best in the PD’s coverage area. Their schedule is doing them no favors, especially with the youth movement they are undergoing. But it’s not like they wouldn’t be favored over the current #25 team, Norton.
