ORabidOne
HOW come TAPPS don't play AAAAA DI in the playoffs? I doubt if many public school teams could stay with the winner of TAPPS!
TigerHat
Because in Texas the public schools are the strong teams. TAPPS is kind of a non-entity here because the UIL ( Texas regulatory body ) doesn't allow recruiting like most states allow private schools to do. Strake Jesuit used to split TAPPS State Championships with Dallas Jesuit - they both went into the public school divisions and neither has ever won more than 2 playoff games against the public schools. Both Katy and Cinco Ranch beat Strake Jesuit pretty handily in district play. This year Katy won 45-7.

Hell the Jesuit teams wouldn't be favored in TAPPS the last few years.
TigerHat
The UIL allowed the two Jesuit schools into the public school division provided 1.) They have to play in the largest division 2.) They aren't allowed to recruit - although they are allowed to offer scholarships. Trust me, none of the TAPPS schools want any part of the top Texas public schools. Texasball
I will assure that the best in Tapps would not win Texas 4A Div 1 much less either 5A brackets.
Texasball
I know this for fact- if the Texas private schools pushed hard enough the UIL couldn't keep them out.

rockinl
FYI: Longview hung 75 on Dallas Jesuit last Saturday. TAPPS aint ready for Texas big boy football.

TAPPS aint ready for Texas big boy football. totally agree. Hell Gilmer beat Argyle Liberty Christian this year like big bass drum. Argyle Liberty beat Dallas Bishop Dunne in the regular season and then lost to Bishop Dunne in the playoffs. When you really look at the evidence of all the games played - These teams fit best with Texas 4A - They can win 5A games - but would not do good vs the upper tier of 5A - No chance vs 6A
