They beat D1 State Champ Catholic-BR last year 9-3 East Ascension plays in the same Baton Rouge District as Catholic-BR......of course we split come playoff time. What's their deal? Just outside New Orleans and literally minutes from New Orleans Airport... they are just across the river from Destrehan. Stadium is adequate, nothing flashy. Live Oak goes as far as RB Kee Hawkins and QB Sal Palermo takes them. Hawkins is a bruiser. Think of this years version of Brumfeld while he was at Covington. Except they run a variation of Flexbone iirc. Are they worthy of #7. That's a stretch. I think that Cinderella run where they made the quarterfinals as a #23-seed (beating 6-seed East Ascension in the 2nd round and barely losing to Acadiana 17-14) got them some hype. 0-2 Mandeville had them all but beat a couple of weeks ago but got wore down and blew a 14-0 lead. Jury's still out on them imo. EA is setting up for a letdown somewhere down the line. Big win for the Kittens. That SLab vs Kentwood game is going to be mammoth. 1A #1 Kentwood is loaded with at least 8 D1 prospects (LSU and La-Lafayette commits already). Some highlights of STM QB Caleb Holstein from last week. He has a lot of potential. LSU has their eye on him from what I read.
