RedZone
Was thinking about it after Longview/West Brook packed 48,000 at AT&T this past weekend......impressive to say the least. Not sure what the record is in Texas. I know the City of Longview was closed up... Here, In 1978, Jesuit/St Augustine packed the Superdome with 42,000-45,000 people for their state championship game. Many believe more were actually there, but those were the numbers they came up with. The Jesuit HC at the time said it was closer to 50,000 in the interview (link). That may still be the record here. I'm not entirely sure. Glory Days West Monroe/Evangel Christian packed the Superdome as well.......those games had over 40,000, but I'm trying to find something to back that up with..Maybe #Reb72 has the goods on those games. https://crescentcitysports.com/40-years-ago-a-night-that-changed-louisiana-prep-football/ Nowadays with the split and games spread out we still do pretty well. In 2012, Rummel/Barbe played in front of 33,000 at the Dome for the 5A Title, I was there and thats a lot of people. The year before the split. In 2014 Jesuit beat John Curtis in front of 27,000 at the Dome. I'm not sure what this years 5A attendance was between West Monroe/Zachary?.....looked solid to me. 1978 photo Jesuit/St Aug (after this game ALL the state championship games were moved to the Superdome)

RedZone
DLS/Mater Dei had 5,000 (rounded) this year...pretty disappointing. More people were at our 1A State Title game this year......... Etc.: The announced attendance was 4,823, far from capacity in a venue that can hold 12,000. … Mater Dei cornerback Elias Ricks, who had nine interceptions this season, did not play for reasons coach Bruce Rollinson did not disclose, according to the Orange https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/12/08/cif-football-de-la-salle-mater-dei/

HawgGoneIt
I've been waiting for the GHSA numbers to come out for this season. For some reason I can't find them anywhere yet. I figure they're ashamed to post them. Actually kind of expected Fred to pop in and post bragging about the numbers. The Bainbridge folks being hungry and not having a ship since the 80's will be the largest crowd for this year. Probably the only savimg grace for the overall numbers this year. In 2015 our total number for all 7 games was just under the Longview game's number though. 46k or so I think. Very iimpressive numbers in Texas for sure.

RedZone
..7,000 for the Lakeland/STA battle........ https://footballhotbed.com/2018/12/lakeland-claims-seventh-state-title-runs-raiders-33-20/ Orlando, FL – No matter what the ending, tonight we were going to have a repeat of history. Aquinas won the last time the teams met in the 7A final and the last time Lakeland won a championship, it was against St. Thomas in 2006. Lakeland and St. Thomas Aquinas are two of the most accomplished programs in South Florida and about 7,000 fans were in attendance to witness an instant classic. Lakeland was able to come out on top of this battle of blue bloods 33-20. Demarkus Bowman finished the game with 211 yards rushing averaging 9.6 a carry

RedZone
....22,435 for the Alabama 7A Champ game between Central-Phenix City vs Thompson.....impressive, looked more to me watching it. Central clobbered Thompson and Tagovailoa on Wednesday night, winning 52-7, and the game drew 22,435. That’s about double what the first four 7A title games have drawn. For instance, last year’s 7A game drew just 9,430 to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

A lot of people that would normally be able to go were not due to work and distance to the venue. Lot of sour feelings about the handling of the games over the past two seasons. Plus the ticket price at 29.50 is pretty outrageous as well. 20 bucks to park. Costs one person 49.50 to go see one game, not including travel expense. Missed work. Etc. Most folks aren't sitting in there from 10 in the morning until midnight to watch that many games. I sat for 2 so, I guess roughly 15 bucks per. Still higher than most states charge. There is nothing attractive about what's happening over there. These guys on here will swear stacking hsfb teams will create a billion dollar per year industry if Texas gets on board though. As best I can tell, it causes attendence decline and average fans lose interest.

Yeah, that was obviously the case this year in CA.....and, can't be a good thing no matter how they try to sell it.... OK......33,000 for Day 3 in Louisiana. Not that great truly. They will probably stop showing the games on TV again. 😄 Just guessing and going by "my eyes" after watching all the games on TV. I might be too conservative on the West Monroe/Zachary game (it looked solid to me).... 15,000 Zachary vs West Monroe (5A publics always rule the attendance) 10,000 Warren Easton vs Edna Karr (4A NOLA battle) 8,000 Catholic-BR vs John Curtis (D1 noon game is a killer for attendance) Something like that..... Some years they break it down...how, I don't know. You pay one price and can watch all three games. .

Lack of community and connection, stacking teams with scholarships while others are paying tuition, we'll call it uplifting others and that's fine... just know what you're getting into. Interesting dynamics at these power privates. Regards, BGW

Brutal ass business at the power privates. Operating like a JUCO at the HS level. I'll never forget my 1st day of JUCO... 50 players showed up for conditioning and classes 1st day of school whittled down to 12 by the time official practice started, conditioning workouts were hard as hell. Never occurred to me that I might be going home, thought never crossed my mind. Regards, BGW

Nice job, good for them. But the point is not as many of the families who are not involved with the football team care so much about the football team. The "community support" is from the players and their families, not the families of the remaining student body. Hence, the attendance numbers like 5,000 to watch MD play DLS. 5,000? Parents who tend to pay more of their hard-earned money for their child's education than some high profile, non-catholic football player families are not as apt to put these teams on pedestals as are some of us who get a big kick out of high school football.
