Native American Mythology

Any ever studied Native American tribes, languages, history, and their cultures? Also their mythology? I ask because I was at a pottery mart in Laredo minutes ago, and they have statues of what appears to be idols or mysterious beings.

I have always wanted to learn and become and expert in Native American history, tribes, etc. but I can only study so much at once. Between finance and linguistics, it can become cumbersome.

Anyway, anyone ever studied this? Anyone ever met any Native Americans or seen/been to a reservation? It’s all fascinating to me, to say the least. The tribes I have always really wanted to study are the Comanches and Coahuiltecans (tribe that once inhabited this area down here - Laredo, Encinal, Freer, and surrounding area). I have found several artifacts of the Coahuiltecans when I’ve been down here. Tools, scrapers, arrowheads, speartips, and odd-shaped rocks that appear to have been used.

Anyone seen Last of The Mohicans?

Last of the Mohicans...Yes, not sure it followed history closely but was good.

Been to several reservations in the 70's. I'm certain much has changed since. Cherokee and Seminole. Poverty was eye opening for me.

I have a small collection of Native American artifacts. Mostly gem quality points, but some other stuff also. Was very good friends with a professor who studied/taught early American history in Arizona. Fascinating teacher. I'll try to post some pictures when I'm home again.
