Kind of thought Varina would win that one.

King George doesn't play that strong of a schedule, but they have probably the best receiver duo in the state (maybe Freedom is comparable) and have been building towards playoff success for a couple years. Last year they lost an epic overtime game to Dinwiddie in the playoffs and it was Dinwiddie's only competitive game of the season.

Class 4 has the most intriguing set of semifinals with Phoebus vs. King George and Salem vs. undefeated but unheralded Tuscarora.

Maryland championships start Thursday night, should be streamed through NFHS:

Thursday 11/30

7:00 Class 2A: Stephen Decatur (13-0) vs Huntingtown (10-2)--Stephen Decatur looking to become the first Eastern Shore team since 1996 to win a state championship.

Friday 12/1

4:00 Class 2A/1A: Calvert (12-1) vs. Dunbar (10-0)--Dunbar has won 36 straight but they had a tough one against Patuxent last weak and Calvert beat Patuxent during the regular season.

7:00 Class 4A: Wise (11-1) vs. Broadneck (11-2)--Wise seems to be cooking after a slow start to the season.

Saturday 12/2

1:00 Class 1A: Fort Hill (12-0) vs. Mountain Ridge (11-1)--Might as well pencil this in as the championship game every year as long at they have six classes. FH won the regular-season meeting 37-14.

4:00 Class 4A/3A: North Point (13-0) vs. Mervo (12-1)--Battle of the last two champs, but North Point is solid favorites here.

7:00 Class 3A: Linganore (12-1) vs. Oakdale (13-0)--Oakdale won 21-14 in the regular season.

11/30

Maryland Class 2A Championship: Stephen Decatur 21 Huntingtown 13

Vanderbilt commit Brycen Coleman might project as a tight end in college, but he threw for 229 yards and ran for two scores to help Stephen Decatur bring a long-awaited championship back to the Eastern Shore.
