Ruston, La vs Stephenville, TX @ Longview Lobo Stadium

Interesting matchup.

Ruston is putting together a pretty solid schedule. Ruston lost most of their State Championship team from last year, but they don't seem to care.

I know Ruston brings back their QB. I'll have to check and see what's going on over there at Ruston.

Ruston's non-district schedule so far:

5A Acadiana, La

7A Cabot, AR

4A Stephenville, TX

6A Longview, TX

Of course Ruston will play West Monroe, Monroe Neville, and the rest of their district.

Haven't seen their full schedule yet.

Only missing 1 non-district game and the rest of the schedule is district.  No matter who fills that last spot they have a great schedule 👌

It's pretty solid.

Stephenville, TX is one of the best 4A programs in Texas...... lots of tradition and I believe they have won 6 or 7 State Championships.

Most everyone on this side has heard of Stephenville, TX.

Interesting.

That's a major road trip for Stephenville. That's not very common in Texas.

Good for them.

Looks like Ruston lost a pretty good chunk of their defense. I thought their defense was probably the best in the state this past year. It was pretty athletic. Breaux and Guidry were absolute beasts.

They signed a modest 7 players today on National Signing Day.

Ruston
WR Logan Malone/Louisiana Christian*
WR Jamar Woods/Louisiana Christian
DL Ahmad Breaux/LSU*
DL Geordan Guidry/Tulane*
LB Jadon Mayfield/Louisiana Tech*
DB Ronald Findley/Centenary
DB Semaj Jones/Louisiana Christian*

Ruston has actually been playing OOS games for a very long time.

In 1995 Ruston played Hoover, AL at Hoover and lost a heartbreaker 14-7. That was a big OOS game for its time period Hoover was Preseason #1 in Alabama.

Hoover ended up #4 in Alabama in 1995. I'll have to check and see what Ruston did in 1995, they did not win state, I know that.

Louisiana has played Hoover 3 times at Hoover, but Hoover has yet to play a game in Louisiana.

Anyways, 1995 Hoover 👇

One of Stephenville,TX's best years was 2021 when they went 16-0, won state and were ranked 15th in Texas, if you believe MaxPreps.

Stephenville was 11:-3 last year and lost to the eventual state champion in the 4th round, I believe.

Stephenville has a little OOS history as they have played Dillard, FL and Venice, FL.

Stephenville beat Dillard and lost to Venice.

Is what it is.

Damn you are one sad SOB. They played those games a long time ago. You just sat there and checked every year in the maxpreps era to find some nugget or fun fact about Stephenville so you can share why this should be a good game for the number two team in all of Louisiana. Lmao! That’s an all time low

Ruston will make short work of Stephenville IMO

so West Monroe released their schedule today, see why teams like Ruston, Neville and Alexandria are leaving the Rebs behind...

That's not a bad schedule at all.

Calvary Baptist will probably win D4 this year. They got some studs. Their big OL prospect (Harper) committed to LSU and their RB is close to committing to LSU also.

One of the best RBs in the nation.

Note: Evangel Christian moved up to 5A and they are on the road to recovery.

Evangel signed 11 players Wednesday. Their best class in quite some time.

Evangel Christian
WR Parker Fulghum/Clemson (PWO)
WR Tyreek Robinson/Pittsburgh*
OL Jacob Carpenter/Nicholls State*
OL Matthew Jarrett/Centenary
OL Tristan Santoro/Baylor*
DL Kris Jenkins/Centenary
DL Gabriel Reliford/LSU*
LB Jamal Jordan/Grambling State*
DB Kennedy Calhoun/East Texas Baptist
DB Tziah Glyenn/Louisiana Christian*
DB Jacob Wilson/Centenary

North Louisiana is way ahead of South Louisiana in football scheduling for 2024.

The only completed schedule I've seen for South Louisiana is St Aug (NOLA).

Hopefully someone on here will see West Monroe's September 27th Open date and make contact to try and work out a game

Are they actively looking? If they released their schedule maybe they are ok with 9 games

I don't know for sure but I would have to believe they would love to have another home game. I have been a season ticket holder for a long time and can't remember the last time we only had 4 home games

There was a time West Monroe would not schedule any private schools.

This year West Monroe has Calvary Baptist, Evangel Christian and Catholic-BR

Maybe John Curtis needs a game. 👍
