School choice, the voucher system, and charter schools have all taken a big bite of the apple with less than stellar results.  

 

Not sure why the unions get a mention, other than your political leaning, but that problem will unfortunately be changing shortly.

You mean the unions in bed with the Dem Party that protect bad teachers?

That uphold their contract and expect the employer to follow the discipline/dismissal procedure.

 

It's really not hard, it just requires a modicum of effort on an administrators part to remove a poor teacher.  

 

Of course they're in bed with the Dems, same reason big business loves them some Republicans.
