The whole family moved to an apartment in Grayson and turned off utilities at the house in Newton Co. There were weekly checks to ensure everyone was aboveboard and met the GHSA regs. When his dad and he moved back after the season he forfeited any eligibility for spring sports such as track but I guess that's what his dad wanted to do. If they did indeed shut off the utilities, from what the GHSA bylaws say, then it was a bona fide move. If I'm wrong, enlighten me. Thanx. But, the article did have a statement from the school system saying something about him transferring for academic reasons..........Yep, you can take that to the bank! Oh, that must be why he transferred BACK to Newton High....... Academic reasons my a*%#. Here is an excerpt from the Bylaws: 1.62 A transfer student who has established eligibility at a former school in grades 9-12 shall be immediately eligible at the new school if: (a) The student moved simultaneously with the entire parental unit or persons he/she resided with at the former school, and the student and parent(s) or persons residing with the student live in the service area of the new school. This is known as a “bona fide move.” (1) The student may choose the public or private school serving that area. (2) It must be apparent that the parent(s) or the persons residing with the student and the student have relinquished the residence in the former service area and have occupied a residence in the new service area. (3) The following factors, although not conclusive, may be evidence of relinquishment of the former residence: Selling the residence and vacating it; OR vacating the residence and listing it for sale at a fair market value; OR vacating the residence and leasing it to another (other than a relative) at fair market value; OR abandoning the residence and shutting off the unnecessary utilities. NOTE: When a family claims multiple residences, the residence for which they apply for a homestead exemption will be declared the primary residence provided the family spends the majority of their time at this residence. Rufus69
The Grayson High School Association has just now become aware of the problem. And they have formed a committee to investigate the facts. Please give these fine people adequate time to review, analyze and formulate a proper procedure to eliminate future indiscretions. But for now... We are the champions, my friends And we'll keep on fighting till the end We are the champions, we are the champions No time for losers 'cause we are the champions Of the world Rufus>>

Someone whose job would be on the line if found to be lying about it.
RaiderRay22
AJC, Fox5 and GHSA sitting on information that Grayson's Deangelo Gibbs and Jameyst Williams both remained at previous addresses. Social Circle and Dacula. Both players had car services pick them up after state semi finals and take to Hartsfield for recruiting trip to Texas. Saturday December 3rd. The GHSA needs to come down hard on Grayson and it's principal! The "Coach for Hire," has already moved on. Giving the Championship to Roswell would be calling the kettle black, as it too had multiple questionable transfers. It's coach has moved on to Buford where transferring is incredibly easy. Only real course of action would be to vacate Title for 2016 and ban Grayson and Roswell coaches from coaching in the state of Georgia! This illegal transferring needs to end! It creates an incredibly unfair competitive advantage and it really is not fair to the players, students and parents that have resided legally in these districts and now their kids are replaced by temporary transfers! As little as possible. We have talked about this stuff for a couple of months already and it took a news report on t.v. to get their asses moving on an investigation. I guess this also proves there isn't any tattle-tales on here also...Well either that or the GHSA didn't care if someone did mention it to them. When it goes out on t.v. and everybody knows they get to moving though. The GHSA was informed before Grayson played IMG in first game of season. Grayson's principal and Coach were sent letters of inquiry. The GHSA's position at that time was that all players were legal. It was debated within the GHSA for a few years as to how to get more National exposure for Georgia teams. Apparently, by creating "super teams," they were able to achieve their goal as both Grayson and Roswell were ranked in the top 10 nationally.
