You think its a coincidence I can predict exactly where yours will fail? No, because I understand it and I know its wrong. Im just trying to help you get it... you asked.... and yes, yours will get you close sometimes (not bc its right though). But its not the right way. Mine will always get you close, because it is the right way... thats all we'll ever get is close anyway, because he doesnt tell you everything else about the ** games and if the grey games are even used at all...

Heres a scenario I know yours will fail, and mine never will... I found another team that lost in the 1st round... and its not an outlier, its a way to show you why yours is wrong

Tift Co.  =  38 Rating

44.4 + 35.8 + 21.4 + 58.5 + 58.7 + 30.8 + 34.5 + 50.3 + (24.4×2.1) = 385.64

1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2.1 = 10.1

385.64/10.1 = 38.18

Im literally .18 off here. Not much at all.

====

Your way...

Regular season avg = 334.4/8 = 41.8 × .32258 = 13.483844

Playoff average = 24.4/1 = 24.4 × .67742 = 16.529048

13.483844 + 16.529048 = 30.012892

Yours is a 30 here...

Thats 8 whole points off compared to my .18

you would be a whole 7.82 wholes further away

This should demonstrate to you why its wrong. You would be putting FAR too much emphasis on the playoffs here... instead of giving that single game a x2.1 boost and it being worth only 20.79% (while the regular season games are worth 9.9% each) of the total rating... you are making that 1 game worth 67.7%. That means the remaining regular season games are worth only 4% each. Thats foolish and incorrect.
