Former Redskin pushes for tackle ban for kids

How can you ban adults making decisions for their kids? The parents have to sign agreements understanding the risk.

Driving cars should be banned. That would save thousands of lives every year. They will never do that because it's not practical. So banning tackle football that parents want and agree to is a much easier target.

The funny thing about banning stuff is they are making a decision for the people who want to keep it without any regard to their desire. Banning something only benefits the people who support the ban

You know how you ban tackle football? You make a compelling argument to the parents and you let them decide if they want to restrict their kids from playing to the point these leagues can not field teams. Not force someone else's beliefs on people who don't think the same way

I barely like you... but well said nonetheless.

Even if you make dubious comparisons... I barely like you.

Does the government have the responsibility to protect us from ourselves? Its a sticky subject. Laws exist that don't allow kids to drink and smoke because its bad for them. So why would sports be any different if it is proven that a sport is bad for children?

How much more do you want the government telling you what to do?? Dont you want a choice for your kids. Also the USA is on the very few countries that has this stigma with alcohol. Most countries due to customs have their children have a drink with dinner and such. Even in Canada is 18 to drink. Idk how old you were when you had your first drink but I was 12

If you are okay with them making some laws that dictate to you what you can and cannot do, why not?

So you dont want your own choice for your children?? You want more government intrusion in your life? Your basically saying that parents shouldnt have their own choice for their own kids.

The problem is why be okay with some and not others? If that's the point, shouldn't we be protesting any and all forms of government intrusion? Or is the government correct about this matter and we're just being crybabies?

Im not. Government needs to get out of all of our lives.

The problem with that is we've made the government responsible for our protection, individually and collectively. This whole matter of gun laws being addressed at this moment because of the school shootings is somewhat similar...what role the government should have in deciding what we as citizens are and are not allowed to do? So if we are allowing the government to make these types of decisions in some cases, shouldn't it be in all cases? Or should we remove all government intrusion from everything, and allow the citizenry to decide EVERYTHING that they want to do? Because then what exactly will that lead to, if the government is no longer governing?

Again so your ok for the government at any point to decide what is good for you and your family. What if they told you going forward nobody in America is allowed make more the a certain amount of money or drive a certain type of car. If you are a parent you should be allowed to make a choice about what your child is allowed to do or not allowed to do. It's called parenting. Idk why anyone would want to government to come in and tell you how to parent.  Basically imo your saying parents are stupid and can't make a good decision so well let the people in government tell me what to do.

So why let the government make any decisions at all? We should allow everyone to do whatever they want.

They should be making limited decisions for you. They shouldn't be telling you how to raise your kids. They shouldn't be telling you what sports your kids should play. They shouldn't be dictating what kind of curriculum you must teach in schools. The government shouldn't be in your home nor your schools. The government shouldn't be threatening that you need health care. Why do you think president Trump and I applaud him is trying to scale all of these things backs like getting rid of the obamacare mandate. We have to get rid of common core it's a disaster. This country is supposed to have very limited government and over the past decades it has become too intrusive in all of our lives. I hope football stays for future generations to enjoy it as past generations have. You brought up drinking at 21 but in France and Germany they don't have a legal age to drink. Why does Europe accept people drinking more then we do?
