Their crazy thought process of not playing bowl games or playing in a conference has come back haunt them. The 4 highest rated conference champions get the byes. Notre Dame will never have to play a conference championship game and gets a neutral site game against the 4 seed who they will likely be better than. It all works out. I think at this point with NIL and an expanded playoff previous years results are meaningless going forward to determine playoff suitability. Mediocrity is what the state of California has been college football has been like for about 20 years. College football changes all the time Alabama will adapt and win.
