Donald Trump 'Shake Up' Is Winning Over Democrats

Recommended Posts

A growing share of Democrats see former President Donald Trump as someone who will shake up the country for the better, poll trends show.

There has been a steady increase in the number of Democrats who see Trump in a positive light rather than as "a danger to democracy" who would further divide the U.S., according to a series of polls from Harvard CAPS/Harris.

The pollster's March survey found that 33 percent of Democrats say Trump will shake up the country for the better, a three-point uptick from February's poll and a five-point increase from January's poll. Comparatively, the number of Democrats who see Trump as "a danger to democracy and will hopelessly divide the country if elected" has decreased from 72 percent in January to 70 percent in February and 67 percent in March.

Trump is like a great coach. Tough, hard nosed, and comes across really abrasive and can rub people the wrong way. (Saban and Belichick come to mind). I guarantee if you ask a lot of their former players they didn’t care too much for the coaches but they damn sure respected them and believed in them because they are proven winners.

The Trump presidency was the same way. He might have came across as a little rough around the edges and not a polished politician, but the results were off the charts. Every single category of American was thriving. Gas and food was low. Interest rates record low, unemployment and welfare dependence super low. No new wars. Literally the only people hurting were criminals and people who hated America.

You may dislike his personality but to say things are better now than when he was President is just an admittance that you hate this country.

Also, one of the enduring traits of Trump toadies is their complete inability to say anything bad about him.

Like at all.

They always couch their "criticisms" like this.

"He can be abrasive but...."

"He can rub people the wrong way, but...."

No.

He's an incurious buffoon and shameless huckster whose only objective is personal enrichment and self-aggrandizement.

This is apparently super hard for these "tough guys" to admit.

People don’t support him because of his outside personality. He is supported because he will push a conservative agenda, elect judges that will be favorable to conservative outcomes, and governs with America-first policy.

If gas is $1.79, mortgage rates are 3 percent, and judges are ruling in favor of religious freedom, then I could less he calls Rosie O’ Donnell a fat nasty cow 😂

What's more is that everything you say to support your preconceived position is false, obviously.

So one by one here we go.

Average gas prices were declining precipitously in Obama's second term and were actually lower in Obama's last year than at any point during Trump's tenure (pre-COVID).

Gas Price History

image.png.daec231077b5148f4d53a115d74f7a13.png

The average Consumer Price Index was also higher at the end of Trump's tenure (pre-COVID) than at any point during Obama's second term.

The average CPI increased by 6.5% during Trump's tenure (Pre-COVID) and 7.7% overall.

This is obvious since the CPI *always* increases. You just don't pay attention when inflation is 2.0% (which it is on average).

So gas and food were more expensive under Trump than his predecessor (Pre-COVID). If Trump had won re-election then he would've been President during the high inflation years of 2021 and 2022.

In that case you'd be absolving him of any blame or responsibility.

Interest rates record low,

Another false claim.

To the shock of many, I'm sure.

Interest rates were near 0% for almost 8 years leading up to Trump's term. That was to increase the money supply and encourage consumer spending. Then the Fed started raising the rates in 2016 to moderate consumer spending.

Then during COVID they dropped the rates to near 0% again to increase the money supply. Only to then increase the rates after COVID to tamp down inflation.

So interest rates were, again, higher during Trump's tenure than they were before and obviously not a record low.

unemployment and welfare dependence super low.

Trump inherited a declining unemployment rate at or near full employment and then his successor has had months even lower (3.4%) than Trump's lowest month (3.6%).

The current rate is 3.9% which is historically low and lower than Trump's average.

Trump granted clemency to 237 convicted felons.

5 of which were his own advisors or campaign staff who committed crimes to his benefit.

7 of which were Republican Congressmen.

10 of which were doctors and healthcare executives that were convicted of Medicare fraud.

3 of which were convicted of war crimes.

A shit ton more were just personal friends and people he liked.

Things are better now because he's not leaving NATO, pardoning his political toadies for colluding with Russia, trying to execute backdoor Muslim bans, announcing public policy on Twitter, etc.

The fact that you have to lie about the economic stuff is just the cherry on top.

I agree that people support him because of that.

But you could get that with practically any other Republican candidate.

Him being a piece of shit is a draw to very many people.

To say otherwise is to be dishonest.

Absurd statement. The main reason for the high inflation was Biden's war on fossil fuels. He ended our energy independence, and changed us from an energy exporter to an energy importer at higher prices. So we all paid higher prices at the pump, and all of our goods had to be transported in vehicles running on higher priced gasoline. So the price of those goods went way up also.

No charge for the lesson, Atticus...You're welcome.

Right, and now all those guys are raping and killing women and children, and shooting cops, and shoving people under subway trains, and sucker punching women, and dragging old ladies behind mopeds, and squatting in people's homes, stuffing the murdered owners in duffle bags...oh wait...my bad...those are the scumbags that the blue state DAs won't keep in jail, or else they are the scumbags Biden's administration is allowing to enter our country illegally, and to stay here even after they are arrested.

Other than that, Finch, you got everything right. 🙄

I would think it's impossible to be as stupid as this but then I remember who I'm talking to.

The Fed printed over $3 trillion dollars in 2020 and COVID caused a supply chain disruption that turned a demand crunch in 2021. That's what caused inflation, dummy.

A minimally informed middle-schooler would understand this stuff better than you.

So from the start your claim is absurdly stupid on it's face. But what's more is that your claim is just false as well.

The United States has never been energy independent

We have always imported oil. We did pre-COVID, during COVID and post-COVID.

We only became a net exporter in 2020 *because* of COVID. That carried over into 2021 (Gasp! I thought Biden waged a war on fossil fuels!) and only turned back over in 2022 when demand reach pre-COVID levels.

So without COVID you wouldn't even be able to misunderstand this enough to lie about it.

What's more is that if Biden had waged a war on fossil fuels and caused inflation then why has it gone down to near average levels?

That's a rhetorical question.

The purveyor of the Arizona Fraudit apparently now thinks that Conspiracy Against the United States, Medicare Fraud, murder and money laundering are not, in fact, crimes.

What's more is that he thinks someone shoving a person onto a subway track is the fault of whomever the President of the United States is at the time.

Oh, who am I kidding? He only thinks that when Biden is in office.
