OOS Flashback 2004: Longview, TX vs Monroe Neville, La (full game)

RedZone

Recommended Posts

Longview Lobos visits Monroe Neville and brings a great crowd to Monroe, La (filled up the visitor side, large band). This was huge OOS game in 2004 between East TX and North La. Game lived up to the hype as Longview beat Neville 14-7 scoring a late 4th Quarter TD for the win. That Longview team was led by  RB Vondrell McGee (Texas commit) who scored the game winner. Wasn't a whole lot of difference between the two teams looking back.

5A Longview ended up #7 in TX with a 12-1 record only loss was to #2 Lufkin in the 3rd RD (31-21).  Lufkin lost to SLC 37-30 in the semifinals and SLC won the MNC at USA Today.

4A Monroe Neville ended up #8 in La with a 12-2 record only losses to Longview andJohn Curtis (Curtis finished #9 at USA Today)

Anyways, the game.....Neville in Black/Yellow, Longview in the White/Green

In 2003 Longview beat Neville 35-12

This Longview team was 7-4 and lost in the first round.  They had 3-3 district record.

How did Neville do in 2003

What does that have to with 2004? You know the damn video......did you watch it?

Funny how Curtis wins that game over Neville by 3 points and gets ranked #9 in the country.  Just more evidence of how bogus the national polls have always been.

2 weeks Later Longview went back to La and Beat ECA the 5A Champs :D24 - 21.  Neville's only other loss was to the 4A Champs JC 24 - 21

Longview beat Louisiana 5A Champ Evangel Christian 24-21 in OT

Couple weeks later Longview beat Texas 5A D1 Champ Tyler Lee 34-31 in OT. Tyler Lee ended #3 in TX 😎

Longview also clubbed 4A D1 Runner-up Marshall, TX 40-15.

4A Neville held Longview to 14 points, pretty impressive actually.

Curtis beat Escambia FL 49-6 that year. Probably why.

Escambia finished 0-9 you dumb shit.

0 and freaking 9

funny thing is Escambia ripped up Curtis in 2003 with a similar garbage team.

Remember the panhandle owns Louisiana by a lot.

I'll never forget when a 2nd round loser from 3A Florida came all the way to West Monroe and put a running clock on them. Lmao!

Hell--- 2-8 Rockwall played Longview to 14-10 game that year too.   Longview played Louisiana rules and won two big games on the road.

Honestly - speaking I have much respect for Neville Football.  Coach McCarty is class act and they have damn good teams and damn good football program.  At Neville, they have a lot of boys to choose from even though the school is not very big.

My good buddy John Paul Young played for Curtis - His dad coached for the Saints back in the day.   Good People...When in New Orleans last week, we tried to slip off to Curtis and something keep coming up.

Tyler Lee was beat 3 out 4 times during that stretch of the season.

Abilene also beat state champ ECA that year too.

You started the thread - basically to show how Neville played Longview good game.  We all pointed out some other stuff along the way.

However, in my last post I complemented Neville pretty damn good.

Take a chill pill - even though I have talked a lot shit over the years (same as you)  I do respect Neville and what they have done over the years.

Bullshit...

I posted a video I found the other day of 2004 Neville/Longview. One, I doubt anyone has ever seen.

and your first response was to bring up the 2003 game. 🙄

People like you and nobill813 are programmed to think like you do.

Only a fool wouldn't respect ECA or Neville.  Both quality football programs.  As is the Lobo's

Tyler Lee also lost to Lufkin 44 -39 and ET 42 - 39.  They had 3 losses all to the best teams they played.  Though they did beat ET in the Playoffs for STATE SEMI'S
