Non-US citizens will have the right to vote

.... in Boston city elections, if the Boston city council president has her way.  Legal aliens, mind you, but she actually wanted to include illegal immigrants in the proposal.  Trust me, this is becoming a “thing”.  Several cities have already adopted it.

I suppose that when a man lives long enough he lives to see just about everything.  What scares me is I (hope) still have a lot of years left in me.

This is insane, if true.

This would only apply to local elections, not federal.  And it would require Massachusetts to change state law - which currently prohibits this.  But it is a start - the rationale given is that these aliens pay state and local taxes.  But they also pay federal ones too.  A move to make people in effect citizens, without actually becoming citizens.  Brought to you by the open borders party.

That's just another of their many scare tactics.  The proposal being voted on is to allow legal residents voting rights for local city elections.

I understand that. But the post said, "...she actually wanted to include illegal immigrants in the proposal.  Trust me, this is becoming a “thing”.  Several cities have already adopted it."

I took the "thing" as being cities are already allowing illegal immigrants vote. I find it hard to believe illegals are allowed to vote, and do not think it's a good idea.

No, illegals are not supposed to vote under any of these new laws. But most Americans have a very serious problem with non-citizens voting, even legal ones.

That offends a boatload of Americans - and is an intended slippery slope.

No they are not allowed to vote. And if they are undocumented folk, they most deff will not risk being caught by going to a voting booth. They do not like to expose themselves. Especially like that.

If you're in a country as a resident alien for say 20 years, would you not want to vote given that you pay taxes just like anybody else?

Become a citizen.  They pay federal taxes too - you want them to vote for Congress and President?
