Rate of Hispanic poverty in America has fallen to a record low 18.3% - and the overall rate of poor Americans has declined three years in a row, new Census data reveals

  • Hispanics account for 18.3% of the population and 18.3% of them live in poverty
  • The 1.1% year-on-year decrease in their rate poverty of in 2017 was also the largest single decline that the U.S. Hispanic population has ever experienced
  • The rate of poverty among all Americans declined slightly in 2017 to 12.3%, the third year in a row that the numbers have gone down, Census data shows
  • Hispanic households also saw their median household income increase 3.7% to $50,486 in 2017, the third year in a row that the population saw a rise in pay

What is it that's wrong with you?

Your Russia crap has effectively fallen apart, and you continue to deride America and Americans being better off.

You must really have a deep underlying contempt for this nation.

Interesting results from an NBC poll...

Seems racism is a questionable issue.

And the Democratic Socialist lurch to the left will not fare well.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/meet-the-press/nbc-news-wsj-poll-2020-race-will-be-uphill-trump-n978331

Being a socialist or over 75 are the least desirable characteristics for a presidential candidate

Voters are more accepting of a candidate under 40.

Hispanic poverty has been steadily declining since 2010.  Link to source of information is in link below:

https://www.census.gov/data/tables/time-series/demo/income-poverty/historical-poverty-people.html

Table 2, starting with line 350

Note:  The 1.1% decline on your 2nd bullet point isn't correct either.  From 2012 to 2016 the poverty rate declined from 25.6% to 19.4%.  That's an AVERAGE of 1.55% for a 4 year span which dwarfs 1.1% for 2017.   See lines 351 and 356.

I never suggested it wasn't dropping before.

The article clearly states it's a continuation.

Also, much as you feel a compulsion to claim the information is mine,  it isn't. I have reposted and linked to an article. It has a comments section. Argue with them.

The 1.1% number IS correct.  From 2016 to 2017 it dropped 1.1%.

This counts under the "great news for America" category, does it not? Hispanic poverty and poverty in general on the decline?

Of course, it is great news but just a continuation that began in 2012 when, you know, the "Kenyan" was President.

What happened in 2017 or the last 3 years isn't the story. The biggest drop was from 2012 to 2016, not the last 3 years as the article wants to focus on.

The Daily Mail isn't exactly the most reputable source.  If you want to use a source, maybe it's a good idea to try to double-check the facts first and see if it jives with the narrative.  It this case it is misleading and that's not something you want to hang your hat on.

I was unaware you were the guy who determines "what the story is".

The time frame of 3 years would still include two from "the Kenyan" as you call him. Correct? That time frame may have been chosen as the 2013-2014 rate was lower (below 1%). You'd have to ask the author.

The second bullet point you posted is still bogus, so that's what I was mainly correcting.  Last year was not the greatest decline and that's a key point. The article wanted the reader to believe that 2017 under Trump was a banner year and it wasn't.  It's typical for right wing media to mix in a little bit of misinformation with honest facts which makes them seem somewhat credible.  Don't you find it interesting that they messed up on such a simple KEY fact?

Everyone on this site could/should spend a little more time researching statements by others and posting links as often as they can.  I'm trying to do that.  It sure would be nice if posters would use government statistics and reliable sources more often.

Okay as regards the 1.1%. Then say that.

But let's not pull this "right wing media" schtick as if the left wing media (MOST of the mainstream media) is nothing but goodness and light. They lie and misrepresent all the time.  They jump on any potential racial incident anywhere and swallow it whole, only too happy to regurgitate bullshit and blame it on Trump.  Improved GDP growth, declines unemployment, improved incomes...  all generally glossed over when they would have been trumpeted to high heaven had they occurred under your "Kenyan".  Anti-Trump RUSSIA!!! bullshit has been given front-and-center focus for literally two years now, despite no credible evidence and, in fact, more and more links to the Democrats being revealed. Goebbels would be proud of his fellow socialists.

Look at the number of leftists on this site who are convinced that the economy that "The Kenyan" (to use your phrase) handed off to Trump was just roaring along. It wasn't. In fact, it was the slowest recovery in modern history.

You had to smile when The Poodle was questioning Cohen about the BS Russia collusion fantasy. This is the woman who rigged the Democratic primary! You can't make this shit up.

Obviously, you don't understand the significance of the quotes around "The Kenyan" but that's OK.

The right wing media does lie and misrepresent most the time.  There are some cases when those on the left do it too but it's still much less than the right wing.  The right wing keeps repeating what Fat Donnie the Boss of Bosses keeps regurgitating and those documented lies will probably reach 10,000 by the end of the year.

I have a question for you.  Why does Fat Donnie lie even when he doesn't have to lie?  Hint: It's to confuse his base and he does a great job on people like you.  How does it feel to continuously be gaslighted and not be aware of it?

I have asked this before and nobody stepped up.  Your chance...again.  Provide links with all the lies the media has told and that they did not correct immediately.

I'll check back and see how you did.  And I'll assume you know the difference between an opinion piece and a story of fact.

Btw, just maybe if the right were to jump on every racial story they would not be looked on as racist themselves.  Silence is not a defense of anti racism.  That doesn't mean that you jump to any conclusions but it does mean you speak up when warranted.

Conch,

And isn't it sad when our National Intelligence Agencies say that Fat Donnie was wrong about differences at the summit meeting with the North Korean leader and that the Kim Jong-un's version was correct?

I know mistakes happen but in nearly every case when the media makes an error they correct it right away.  I have yet to see any of the fake news crowd provide links with all the lies they say they tell.  We can provide links to Fox's lies all day long and other right conservative radio and the rest do not even attempt to cloud the truth, just straight up lies and conspiracy's.

I know the answer to the last question.  Hillary and Obama.....

You know, besides Trump- who is obviously not right in the head, the biggest disappointment is Congress and Republicans openly lying and conspiring to help a known moron.  What are they going to say when he is long gone?  They can't possibly keep this up indefinitely, can they?

This was probably for Concha.  I had not heard of that yet but I'll say this for Trump, he is consistent.  He has yet to meet a situation in which he does not screw it up somehow.  Amazing really.

Oh, I do.  I simply never have used that term or made that connection, so you're throwing that poop at the wrong guy.

Your opinion is noted as regards who lies more.  The fact is that the widest-reaching media sources (generally with ties to the historically most prominent sources ex NYT) are leftist. And it's not close.  Their coverage of the president is overwhelming anti-Trump and pro-Russia conspiracy theory despite the economy roaring along, lack of evidence for Russia collusion and Trump actually doing lots of shit that are anti-Russian.  The enthusiasm an zeal with which they are willing to go after the president is undeniable.

I voted for Trump to get results. He has the economy strong. He is trying to limit government. He is working to protect our border. He is working to get our allies to be actual allies... This is all happening.

Your viewpoint that I and those like me are the ones being manipulated is utterly laughable.  I now he's a bullshitter. I know he has a colossal ego.

I also know that the country is doing well by nearly any objective measure despite you and yours wetting yourselves every day.

Fat Donnie will most likely destroy the Republican Party as we know it.  I don't know if or when this will happen but if a few Republicans in Congress break from Fat Donnie in order to save their jobs, it could lead to enough to split the party in half.  Once they see how damaged he will be from the current investigations, some will discard him like yesterday's newspaper.

That is what logic would tell us but this is an upside down world.  If they can't see Trump and what happens whenever he touches anything (which is like a cancer), I doubt any serious momentum is gained to change strategy for the Republicans.  It all boils down to Trumps base and they are unlikely to wake up any time soon.  At least not when there are so many liberals to focus their hate on.  The tail is wagging the dog and making respectable careers into nothing more than becoming Trump's bitches.  That will not look good on a resume Imho.
