Funny how all those teams listed STILL find ways to win over quality opponents. All are good teams worthy of the accolades given to them.

What's the difference between St. John's near misses and Pinnacle's near-misses?

Oh, and if you had even the first clue about Arizona football you'd be aware of how vulnerable Pinnacle is beyond their quarterback.

Exactly why Pinnacle is not Tier 1 or Tier 2.  May'be Tier 3 is a stretch for them too.  Will give them a closer look next week.  Thanks for the info

Four teams from Ohio is quite laughable

And you know I never said that to you before today😂

Let's talk Ohio.   Moeller and Winton Woods are the only two Cincinnati teams that are close outside of the ones that are ranked.  The two Cleveland teams, St. Edward and St. Ignatius have two losses, admittedly early and to Mentor, are rising but still do not think that they are in yet.   Honestly I think I have Hoban over ranked.    I guess I need to know who you are talking about.    Solon beats Mentor last week so do they get ranked ahead of the two Cleveland teams if you are basing it on a daisy chain.  What teams in my poll could they beat?     You think Trotwood-Madison or Huber Heights Wayne could beat Phoenix Liberty, Starkville or any other team in my last twenty?    I really do not think they can.    No one has a greater respect for Ohio football than I do.   Living in a neighboring state, I get a chance to see them play a lot.    However, I just do not think this has a been a vintage year for Ohio football.

I flipped a coin to determine the last spot in the poll between Liberty and Pinnacle.    Pinnacle beats them a point at home last weekend and my feeling was that Liberty probably gets them on a neutral field.

You are basing your rankings off of the past.  Fairfield is the second best team in the the Greater Cincinnati area.  Winton Woods and St.X and Covington Catholic would round out the top 5 Greater Cincinnati squads.  Mentor is playing right now without the starting qb which might have played a part in them losing last week.  Then you have Hilliard Davidson and Coffman who I wouldn't rank in the top 100 but if you have some of these other teams ranked, they belong as well.  TCC is absolutely a top 100 squad.  Massilon is a top 100 squad.  They couldn't stop a good team from scoring but they can put up points themselves.

St. Edward is obviously rolling right now and St. Ignatius is picking up steam as well.  It seems I was wrong about their defense.  Starkville would lose to any top 10 Ohio squad.  I would bet a large lump sum on it.

Ok let’s talk Ohio

NPTB spelled most of it out but let’s look a bit closer.

Both Iggy & Ed’s lost to Mentor. Ed’s by a missed XP and now Mentor did not play their QB so Solon beat them. No you are correct Solon does not move up,

Iggy lost to Hoban who just scored 63 against a decent Padua team in the first half nonetheless.

Hoban & Colerain are Ohio’s best to date.

your #63 team beat Ed’s on a miracle Hail Mary. You think there are 37 places of separation from being considered in your poll? Both Omaha & Columbia say no way in their top 50 polls respectively.

And there are teams such as TCC, Hilliard Davison, Massillon, McKinley & Fairfield that need to be looked at.

I always liked your poll Whitey but just saying Ohio is a bit better than 4 teams in a top 100. Thanks😀

Can't disagree with any of those statements.   However, as you know, when we start a season you look at the traditionally strong programs in each state and use that as a basis for your poll.    Then as the year progresses you try to take note of a program on the rise and monitor there play as the year progresses.    One way I do that is by starting to post them on my weekly viewer guide.   This allows me to look at them once a week as I compile my state rankings.    All my state rankings are listed on a worksheet that allow me to see each states top teams as I compile the national poll.   Fairfield was not even in the Ohio poll at the start of the season and TCC was in the 20 range.   Each have been moving up since but still are not at the level of say St. Edward, St. Ignatius or even Moeller.   However, we will agree to disagree on Starkville.    One thing I do know for sure about Mississippi football and that is you had better be quick when going up against a team from that state.    Clips I have seen from them this season and also seeing Horn Lake live, tell me that their quickness and overall athleticism is difficult to handle.     You mentioned Covington Catholic who I saw play Chatard and can tell you they would have serious issues against Horn Lake.

with all respect as you truly are an earnest and genuinely nice man

dutiful and through

but your poll is a geriatric poll.

It's the same poll as 1999. All the same biases and prejudices that I have campaigned against for 2 decades.

As I stated on my earlier post, those teams are all on the radar but don't feel that they could beat the likes of Peoria (AZ) Liberty, Washington (DC) Gonzaga, Gaffney (SC) etc.     I often said that the toughest part of a Top 100 is the bottom 10 not the Top 10.    However, I do appreciate the input and will consider all your points as I go forward.    Honestly I wish more posters would give such great feedback, it helps me a lot .

The South Carolina schools are so outclassed it's not even funny.  There is a reason they don't leave their comfort zone.

My polls are most likely geriatric because I am geriatric.     Seriously, I assume your statement of biases and prejudices is that I include the same teams each season without giving upcoming programs due respect.    As I stated in an early post, I try very hard to pick up a team like Homestead (FL) and East Jefferson (LA) as soon as I can but trying to monitor 750 high school teams can be difficult and is why I rely on folks like you to assist me as my goal is to get this thing as close as I can.

I recall Duncan Byrnes playing at the Herbstreit several years ago and they were anything but outclassed.

Byrnes was outclassed.  Moeller dominated them in the line of scrimmage.  Moeller was more athletic than them.  Moeller didn't win the score board at the end of the day which is all that matters but they hit a fieldgoal that was called no good.  I was right above the goal post in the corner of the endzone.  And to top this all off.  Moeller was only the 6th best team in the city of Cincinnati that season.  Byrnes was at worst 2nd best team in all of South Carolina.
