Mallard Creek has a  nice senior class working. Defense should be nasty.

Big game next week with Dutch Fork, SC on ESPN2

Friday, August 23
Mallard Creek (N.C.) vs. Dutch Fork (S.C.)
6 p.m. on ESPN2 from Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, S.C.

  • For the past decade, Mallard Creek has consistently been one of the most successful teams in North Carolina including winning three straight states titles in 2013-2015. The Mavericks’ defense is led by No. 111 Trenton Simpson – OLB (Auburn) as the team eyes a return to the state championship.
  • Dutch Fork has seen a run of success recently that includes three straight South Carolina 5A state championships. The Silver Foxes return senior QB Tyler Olenchuk (Clemson baseball commit) along with a pair of WR’s and DB’s with D1 offers.

There's really a lot to like about #2 Myers Park especially offensively....I looked at them hard, but feel like they will be all offense and not much defense.

Led by 4* QB Drake Maye (Alabama commit)

Couple big time WRs in 4* Muhsin Muhammad III (Texas A&M commit) and 4* WR Porter Rooks (N.C. State commit).

All 3 had Alabama offers.

The longest public high school win streak is from a team in the Carolinas.

Yeah, snapped at the Herbie in Ohio in OT.

Independence was up in that game 27-14 at halftime.....good comeback by the Elders.

Independence lost 3 games that year and didn't win state though.

I saw that game sitting on the Independence side.  I mentioned in another thread that several people sitting near me cried while on the other side of the UC stadium thousands were going crazy celebrating.  One of the most extraordinary games I have ever seen.  The actual feeling in overtime was unimaginably intense.
