No high 12s, I think I could have got it down to 12.5-12.6 with good tires, I was on all season tires at the time.  My times are on the left, my buddies tuned 335xi on the right.

This was after just doing the pulley/tune.  Got another 10-15ish out of the intake.   The stock intakes were crap apparently as I'd never really gained much from an intake before.

I remember the first time I saw it...  I went deaf for an hour because I refused to Put in ear plugs....

My uncle and literally 50 other people warned me....

They had sprayed down the track and even extended it into a Curve a bit.

They had to police escort it onto the track and let it out of the trailer...

Not for the faint of heart, or a family man, but with death inches away for 17 breathtaking minutes, there's nothing more insane then the " Isle of Mann TT." #ex-rider

Indeed.  A former work colleague's wife was from there and I learned about that race.

This is quite a jump, very sweet.  Thx for sharing.  12.7 is fast!   If I'm not mistaken the 335 (mine was 2008) with 300 hp stock was a 13.7 -14 flat type car.   So your friend benefited a good 5/10ths from work done, also sweet.   I never raced it nor any car at a track.   Two of my close friends used to tinker with their Vettes and do 1/4 miles.  I've been a car enthusiast forever.   I had a very cool European trip way back in the early 90's when I saw a F40 in Frankfurt (guy driving a beautiful brunette and smilling while a golly gee American is taking a photo lol) and a 959 in Vienna (Gov't offical license plate).    Maybe we should hang one day and see what my E550 can do in Palm Beach lol. Warranty is over, which is good and bad.  Edit.  I see 13 flat on his 335 even better than 5/10ths!  Very nice.

Those 335s have more power than the manufacturers claim.   They claim 300, but they dyno 270-280ish, which is right about where the c32s do.  They are probably more like 330-340hp stock. (especially the n54 engine)

Yeah problem with the XI version is it's AWD which is good for launching but adds a lot of weight.   Those 335s have much more potential than my car.  I have a friend with a RWD 335 w/ downpipes,  intercooler, intake, exhaust and Jb tune and him and I are basically the same.  If he put in some e85 ethanol fuel or bigger turbo's etc he'd leave me in the dust.   I couldn't really do too much more to mine without it being very experimental.

I like the lights out weekend. It's the best thing they have going over there right now. I miss the Hooters series that was coming before the ownership issues at the track.

If you keep up with when the GatorNationals are in Gainesville, sometimes some of the big boys stop off at Cecil to do a test and tune during the week/weekend before the Gators to save time and money. They don't really advertise it though so you just have to be in the know or check by there occaisionally that week.

Interesting... yes I did read about that in forums and car reviews.  I guess if true, the M3 interest might have dropped a little bit.  It certainly was a fast car, but the interior quality overall was kind of bland... seemed like a bit too much emphasis on engine and suspension, but overall no complaints of any serious tone.  Interestingly, my 335 was built in South Africa :), final assembly.  It was a fun ride for the driver and front passenger, but the rear seats were a bit cramped.  I did enjoy scaring my kids on rides lol.  My son has taken an interest and has been doing lots of upgrades to his BRZ... I won't allow him to do any engine work, so thus far tire/wheel, coilovers (dropped the height, but not max), some light cover changes, shifter knob even lol... he's a fan.     Wow, your friend's car must have a wicked sound with downpipes as well, shit.  Nicely done.

Yea, 2012.  402 HP.   Heavy, but it moves... I've seen some crazy fast #'s on stock of that year, but since I don't race or even to 60 runs for time it's hard to say.  It gets off the line well, but the engine noise and feel inside is a bit subdued vs. the 335 and rightly so.  I prefer this setup and the size difference for sure.   No complaints with this ride either.

Yeah dude, you're sitting on one of the most underrated monsters lol.   That and the BMW 550 when it had the tt engine were WAAAY underrated.  Dyno's for stock E550s were like 380s, I even saw one around 400 even TO THE WHEELS.   You have to remember power measured to the wheels is around 20% lower than what the true "crank" Hp is (what you see in magazines) due to drivetrain loss.   Your E550 stock would probably give my C32 a run for it's money, if you put an intake and tune on it...forget it!

They replaced both the E and BMW models with lesser powered versions so people would buy the M5s and E63s.  I think they might have brought them back though.

Enough with the bigger Bimmers fella's :) ...  I opted for the newer N20 ( turbo 4 ) in M-sport trim when I bought my last BMW (428) in 2014. Was leery of the 4cyl considering how fabulous and bullet proof BMW's inline 6's have been over the years and the joy of driving one. Sometimes (foolishly) I have buyers remorse for not spending the extra 5K for the turbo 6. I did order the 428 with a 6sp manual transmission, black leather, and Harman Kardon stereo for the child in me. And believe it or not, it is faster then my old 1997 M3 (automatic) ever was. Both only put out 240 hp, but the lightweight turbo kicks in low and hard. Combined with a very smooth throttle response, in sport mode, this little Bimmer is a pleasure to drive, fast.....lookout soccer moms.
