Ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse

@DBP66posted an article, but this deserves a thread.

On Friday, the Republican National Committee passed a resolution  censuring Republican Representatives Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney for participating in the Congressional committee investigating the violent assault on the Capitol. Officially:

One of America’s two political parties just passed an official resolution declaring a violent insurrection that led to deaths, assaults on police officers, and calls for the murder of politicians to be “legitimate political discourse.”  Stunning how reckless, dangerous, and anti-American Republicans have become.

Meanwhile, it's okay for the Democrat Party to censure Senator Kristen Sinema for refusing to vote to allow the federal government to try to take over elections that are reserved for the states by the US Constitution, and for refusing to blow up the Senate filibuster (which is designed to force bipartisanship), in order to allow extreme radical policies most people don't want any part of.

I notice that you forgot to mention that Senator Sinema was censured by the Arizona state Democratic party.  But I spose if, for whatever reason, I couldn't muster the resources to simply denounce the Republican National Committee for legitimizing political violence, I might look for a false equivalence offramp too.

The rest of your characterization is equally silly - But that's not what this thread is about.  It's about this:

Yup.

More possible reasons coming out every day.  Turns out when McDaniel said she wanted to censure Cheney because some nice little old lady (lol) friend of hers got called by the Jan 6 committee, she forgot to mention that lol friend was a fake elector who tried to invalidate 2.9M votes by signing a forged certificate.

Lol friend is under investigation.

Slotback Right is the king of false equivalence off-ramps.

But concha, Nolebull813, etc. aren't far behind.

Here’s the thing. You can honestly believe there was election fraud AND condemn people who honesty believed they could overthrow the government.

You don’t need some phony commission to figure out a small fringe group of dumbasses committed some crimes and should be held accountable. And they are. And they should

it was a well planned attack on our Capital...we need to know who planned it...we have the Oath Keepers who came loaded for bear and your typical Trump nut jobs who were following orders given by Trump to "fight like hell".

Here's the thing, that's not what you're doing.

What you're doing is trying to paint a bipartisan committee as a witch hunt in order to avoid the inevitable findings that Trump and his associates either helped plan or played a big part in encouraging the events of that day.

This is the quintessential toady move: whisper that the perpetrators need to be "condemned" but scream that the committee is a witch hunt.

So a couple and probably the only republicans with any sort or moral compass, are getting attached for being on a committee that is investigating the attempted coup on Jan 6th?  The RNC really does buy into the fact the republican voters really are the dumbest this country has to offer.  Plus you know they have no idea what legitimate or discourse even means so they just follow like sheep.  Sad days we are in.
