Reb72
I have never heard of this before. Union Parish, where I now live, just won the Louisiana Div III NS state football championship. Obviously that is not news, they were the # 4 seed and played great in the playoffs winning the championship game 36-35 after making a 2 pt conversion with 11 seconds left. Union High School, by choice, only has an orchestra and no marching band. First couple of rounds in the playoffs no big deal they use the loud speakers in their stadium as they do during the season for the music to excite the crowd. When they got to the Semi-finals and had to travel to play the # 1 seed their coach hired the band from their District rival high school (Carroll High of Monroe) to travel with them... and they won. Carroll has the largest and loudest band of any school in their district. After securing their spot in the finals in the Superdome in New Orleans Union boosters again paid for Carroll's band to travel with them for the championship game. So Union just held their parade to celebrate their Championship and again paid for Carroll band to come up and march in the parade and afterwards announced that the boosters are paying for every member of Carroll's band to receive Union's State Football Championship ring. Not only have I never heard of a band getting Football State Championship rings but giving them to a District Rivals Band... that's just wild. Only in Louisiana 1
Nolebull813
Man I thought you were gonna say Union broke some rule for doing it and got their title stripped away. I was getting mad the whole time reading it till the end. Lol. That is wild.
Rufus69
Reb...I would like to point out that quite a few schools in Georgia do that with their football teams. They rent players for a season or two. And yes...they give them a ring.............. Rufus>>

Nolebull813
Kid went to Newton High, his parents owned a home in the Newton district, then his parents rented an apartment in the Grayson district so they transfer the player to Grayson, he plays and help win a title with a dozen other high profile transfers, then axes the apartment and moves back into the home and re-enrolls in Newton after “winning” a championship. pied
That’s a cool story. Not sure about a rival school’s ring but good story.

Actual pictures of that kid at the Newton home with Jim Harbaugh during season but the GHSA did nothing.

Why would the Gwinnett High School Association punish a Gwinnett County school? Just doesn’t make any sense
