Trump refers to EU as a foe ....

...: Europeans lose their minds.  Trump was referring to trade issues.  But what he is really saying is that they are irrelevant.  Hamstrung by Brussels, unwilling to use whatever power they have - why not deal with Russia instead, a country that actually matters in terms of US geopolitical concerns.

Outside of the U.K., no country in Europe is relevant when it comes to most of the world’s flashpoints. They are either unwilling or unable to play a significant role.  They have all been losing population - at least until Muslim immigration accelerated.  Russia is important in matters concerning the Middle East, war on terror and vis a vis China.  Plus they are interested in being a significant military power - a fact we cannot overlook.  Putin has serious flaws and could end up being an implacable enemy - but he is not Hitler or Stalin - or even the old Communist regime in the Soviet Union.  We need to deal with him because Russia is a player.

Anything and anyone who takes advantage of the American way should be considered an enemy of the state imo

What is Russia then?  They have breached our sovereignty by interferring with our political process and we have indictments for members of their gov.

You think this is something unique to 2016?  The USSR did this all the time, hell they stole our military secrets.  And the Left loved them for it.

Calling them a foe was Trump being nice.  Calling them irrelevant would have been insulting.  True, but insulting.

That is clearly your interpretation, most understand being a foe establishes the RELATIONSHIP between two or more parties, being irrelevant doesn't.

What should be the response since there are indictments, do we ignore and say "it happens" or address the issue?  The ball is clearly in the Repubs hands.

Since there was condemnation for Obama for doing nothing in Crimea, do we continue to punish Russia for annexation or remove them?  All of these are actions that have impacts one way or another and sends signals to other nations on how to deal with US.

Right now the U.K. has to choose between the EU and the US - so that makes them a foe, so to speak.

Address it, but you don’t blow the entire relationship over it.  One of the worst espionage cases ever was the Pollard case - we did not end our relationship with Israel.  We interfere in elections abroad - you want countries to cut us off over it.  Get real.

We have a lot of allies throughout the EU.  Those allies have shed blood WITH us and hold the values that we use to say we had but not currently. Allies must mean something.  Russia is not our ally and not our friend and they want to weaken the US.  Why would we want to kiss Putin's ass?

Although, if Russia was to be our friend then Trump might then treat them like an ass like he does to our current friends.  But not likely since Putin now runs the Repub party and Trump.

No it does not, militarily they have had our backs, supported us unconditionally in Afghanistan and Iraq, we need to remember this and not be blinded by poor word choice.

NK is a foe, Iran is a foe.  Big difference.  We have political differences with allies.

WTF are you talking about?  Russia never has done what they did in 2016 and are doing right now.  Who exactly loved it when Russia stoleiloyary secrets.  Until Trump everybody seemed to know that Russia was an enemy.  Now you guys think they are great and our friends are useless and take advantage of us.

what relationship do we have with Russia?  Oh I must have forgotten those joint military exercises off the Bering Sea.  Speaking of that, have we asked them to back off their joint mil exercises with China?  They just had one AGAIN this spring.  Who are those exercises in preparation for?

Did you live through the 50s-80s?  The Left loved the communist “experiment” and basically wanted “peaceful coexistence” - in other words, surrender.

You don’t think Communist organizations funded by the USSR did not spread disinformation during US elections?  Seriously????

Europe is not that great an ally - leeching off our military TBH.

Please stop posting the bs from the media, I worked for NATO and they are loyal allies.  They have allowed us to deploy forward in their country and in a few allowed us to store our nuclear arsenal.  Not only to protect them but to further American imperialism.  How do you think we promulgate our ideology while stimying communism?

Remember the 70's and 80's.  I know about 50's and 60's.  There was a cold war and nobody was wanting to get cozy with Russia.  After the wall came down in 89 there was a new hope that they wouldn't be the enemy they had been but that was it.

No love for communism.

If any idiot fell for anything in the 2016 election than they are just dumb. You knew who you were gonna vote for. Nobody was gonna tell anyone any different. All these undecided voters is bs. You already know come November who you are gonna vote for for the midterms. And in 2020 I'm sure you'll know by January of that year

How did they do that before social media?  Very limited.  2016 was unprecedented and extremely effective.  But that is not the real point.  The point is they want to weaken is and sow discord and they are not our friend.  That should be a uniting factor as it always has been before Trump.  Amazing that they get a pass and our allies get treated like they are our enemy.
