Let me ask you this... since JJ was a 5 star....... was he on the field 30% of the time because kept getting subbed or you kept him out on D  90% of the time

??? If ur team has studs why would you want to have them off the field

Because they play in GEORGIA! One of the four most talent rich states on the planet! And rotating 30 plus, as Colquitt does, keeps them fresh! But sometimes, there appears to be confusion as to who goes in WHERE!

May be sleeping on West Monroe. They return 14 starters from a (13-1) team that lost in the 5A Semifinals 29-27 to state champ Zachary......I have them 4th in preseason poll.

West Monroe dresses out about 456 players every week. It's one of the largest schools in Louisiana.

I don't worry about preseason polls all that much. By the end of the year Louisiana will have our 5-7 teams ranked...

maxresdefault.jpg

That's what makes West Monroe such a hard beat every year.......they may lack the "star power" some years, but they throw so many bodies at you that know how to play football...

Finding 25-30 football players out of a program that has 400 in it ain't hard to do in  Louisiana...

Except it....

Having a good qb and a nice wr just doesn’t catapult you that high in a national poll.

Has to be more to the story ....

WELL, in the case of Colquitt! Their relatively lofty ranking probably stems from the fact that! For the next four seasons,  they'll be as DEEP as they have EVER been! In 2018, they'll have three DI caliber RB's, 9-10 OL, nine DL for three positions! Nine LBers for four positions! And seven DB's for four positions! And Coach ProPst thinks that he may have found one or two DB's to make a two deep matching set! THAT, plus two big time receivers at wideout and TE! Plus a 6'5" 200lb. TE, who just came back after a sabbatical with the baseibol team. Plus, the #1 kicker in the UNIVERSE, in Ryan Fitzgerald! The only possible weakness, is a lack of experience in the WR corPs, and experience at QB! But according to Coach ProPst, with two receivers hobbled in the seven ons! He thinks that he's found two diamonds in the rough! And JAYCEE appears to be getting the hang of QB1! NOW, iffin we could jist steal the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG snapper for the Fernandina Beach Buccaneers, we'd be GOLDEN!

100 💯 percent they gotta earn it

Last year = 2009?

Archer had one of the more talented teams you'll ever see in 2014...

Archers HiStOrY:

2009: 0-1 (L 29-22 to Mountain View in their 1st game ever)

2010: 2-8 (1st full season, #210 in GA)

2011: 5-6 (#85 in GA)

2012: 6-4 (#37 in GA)

2013: 11-1 (#18 in GA, their 1st playoff berth and they were the only team in Class 6A to go undefeated in the regular season heading into playoffs, theyd lose 34-32 in the 2nd rd to eventual State Runner Up North Gwinnett)

2014: 11-4 (#3 in GA, theyd start 0-3 but dominate the rest of the season on the way to playing Colquitt Co. in the 6A State Championship, where theyd fall short 28-24... In the playoffs they won their 1st Round-Semifinal games by scores of 38-22, 56-13, 56-13, & 52-7 ... They were extremely talented, and still somewhat young, this left huge expectations in 2015... What led them to fall a bit short the next season was the loss of their OC to a HC position at another school, and the loss of their QB)

2015: 11-2 (#6 in GA, theyd start out Top 15 on quite a few publications, but like I said above, losing their OC and QB turned out to be a big deal ... Theyd end up losing to an undefeated Mill Creek team 23-0 in the Quarterfinals)

2016: 4-7 (#54 in GA, Theyd fall off a bit after 2015, as they lost a ton to graduation and even lost some stars to transfer... Like 4* S Isaiah Pryor, now at Ohio St., left for IMG Academy ... 4* CB Jamyest Williams, now at South Carolina, left for Grayson, etc, etc ...  So there were quite a few growing pains for some younger guys, but its pay off for the next season)

2017: 12-1 (#9 in GA , Archer would make it to the Quarterfinals for the 3rd time in Program history ... Before losing to Colquitt Co. 12-7. Archer kept Colquitt out of the end zone the entire game, but gave up 4 FGs to lose)

2018: Expectations are pretty high

Those 400 must be masquerading as cheerleaders and the band? And Colquitt uses 30 on each side of the ball! WELL, except in 2018, when they MAY use forty!

WELL, APPARENTLY, Colquitt was a tad stronger than Archer in 2015! Since Mill Creek beat them 23-0! And the next week, Colquitt, the future NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, hung 52 on Mill Creek! And the Packers had a touchdown called back when the ref thought Ty Lee had stepped outta bounds, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

And in 2017, the Packers fumbled at the five yard line, to keep the score at 12!

I've forgotten more about high school football than you've ever known.

You say...Archer has to prove themselves before entering the Top 25....what about Marietta?  What have they done?  Not a fucking thing....

Rufus>>

Lol ... Getting under your skin a bit am I ...

It seems youve forgotten ALL you know about football... Not just more than Ive ever known.

Ive been following GA HSFB for almost 30 years, and Nationally for almost 10 now ... You were led over by Rab a couple years ago, and seem to be just a slightly more civilized version of him.

(Smile, am I right?)

With Archer, I meant their offense needs to step up a bit. They are only going to go so far without a serviceable offense. Peevy is entering his 3rd year as a starter and they bring back a few of their contributing offensive players so we'll see.

Their defense is Championship level... If the offense can do a little more, they'll win a Title.

Youre right, Marietta hasnt done much on the field to earn a Top 25 National ranking. Its mainly potential & talent. The main points about Marietta...

--- They are very talented, 95% of their talent being Sophomores and Juniors still also ... The only stud Senior is 4* WR Ramel Keyton. 2019 could be a MNC type year.

--- Marietta was 5-1 with Harrison Bailey on the field last season ... In those 6 games Bailey threw for 1,824 yards (304 ypg) 20 TDs & 5 INTs... They made it to the Quarterfinals, losing to eventual State Champ North Gwinnett 51-41  ... It came down to the final few minutes, with Bailey going 24-of-41 , 338 passing yards, and 5 TDs...

--- That was basically with a team of super talented Sophomores... And theyve added some talent on the OL and at WR. Most are now Juniors and theres usually a pretty big jump from being a Soph. to a Junior ... Considering what they did, and who they bring back... They have to be expected to be serious State Title contenders.

--- They didnt just win the Corky Kell 7on7, they dominated it ... With 10 of Georgias Top 11 teams on the field. Their only real challenge being last years State Champ North Gwinnett ... The 2 met in the Finals, with Marietta winning in OT

--- IMO, any of North Gwinnett, Marietta, Colquitt, and Grayson could be Preseason Top 25 and thered be no reason to complain ... With teams like Archer, Walton, Buford, The Rome "Shorty Reid" Wolves, McEachern, & Blessed Trinity hoping to prove they are top teams. Archer & Buford have the best chance IMO, and luckily they play each other this year.

They should move the Colquitt game to McEacherns field and replace them With Bergen Catholic vs Grayson and SJR vs AHP and the Benz

they lost to Sandy Creek that year.

They lost to Grayson and Peachtree Ridge too to start the season.

But after those three games, more specifically in the 2nd half of the season... They were pretty special. Did you watch Colquitt vs Archer in 2014?

It's not just Cajon though.

Or just Cali.

There is a lot of these little no depth, decent talent schools that a team like Serra, with much less talent, would beat in the ship.

It's not that they can't ball. It's that they can't beat the waves of line changes and fresh legs. At least not steadily every week. They may get lucky and get far enough ahead on some teams to take some games.

They aren't beating A LOT of the teams that aren't even ranked at all imo.

I even think Rome can be added to the list of pretty rosters and not enough depth.

The depth schools would take them in the second half if they didn't get far enough ahead early to play keep away.

The pollsters need to stop rewarding the pretty roster. It makes the polls crap.

Not sure how you can say that about Rome since it hasnt been proven.

I guess you didnt see them beat Buford 45-7 ... Their worse arse kicking in almost a half century. They did have good depth on the DL. I go back to seeing Buford almost knock off a team, South Pointe SC, that finished in most every Top 25 last year... And even some Top 10s.

Unfortunately, Rome lost their entire DL to graduation... But they do get a chance to prove themselves vs. a 7A team in the 1st game of the year.

Theres a few teams out there that do get by with very little depth. Its unusual at the highest level, but not impossible.

Rome last year wouldve played with anyone in GA. Bar none. Maybe not every year, but last year Romes chemistry was off the chart... And their talent was in perfect spots. This year they'll have to rely on offense more... As they return 8 on O... And Knox Kadum is a very experienced leader for that team.

Rome vs Marietta should tell us a lot. Marietta plays Good Counsel MD the very next week.
