Lakeland looks legit.

PGL has tried. They’re too expensive to host and don’t have the funds to fly in an elite, brand name opponent. Beating  STA annually will always help their cause regardless.

Are they still not interested in the geico if they were to win?

Lakeland is loaded for sure, should be highest ranked team from FL in these polls

Schedule don't make a team elite, stud players do and boy are they loaded in talent

Watching them in the first halves against Manatee (and Osceola last week).  They just look to have a complete team.    All this with their starting QB not playing.   The Backup better not slip up when he comes in lol.

Is the starting QB out for the season?

also, their OL looks massive.  Do you have measurables on their OL?

They’re not easy to deal with. They declined the Geico Bowl, then declined ESPNs request to have them host a top OOS team for a kickoff game this season. They refused to switch out their game vs a lowly, irrelevant opponent. There’s only so many opptys you get at national exposure. IMO they don’t want it.

They don't have to venture off from Fla to get national exposure as long as they take care of business in Fla.  some of their Fla opponents will have played OOS games this year to use as a gauge.

Have you tried getting them set up with IMG

That's like a 1-2 hour drive max

Any idea who the lowly, irrelevant opponent was? I also heard an ESPN game was in the works and fell through.

Wins vs a down STA and Plant will only take them so far.

STA wasn't down last year, sorry.

This year, it remains to be seen. They beat DLS on the road in game one of the soph QB's career. So, that's not too bad if you're also going to claim DLS is elite. Atlantic looks like a really good team that they'd have to go through in the South. And, it remains to be seen if anyone will touch this IMG team. It may be that the 46-7 score over Venice looks no different than their scores against several other nationally rated teams.

But, this year's 7A is different. Armwood is better than last year, and is 7A now. Armwood looks scary good. Ditto Edgewater. Both Armwood and Edgewater play OOS, so we'll learn something there.

SJB beats DLS 21-14  at a neutral site and they are the best team ever.  STA beats DLS in Cali 21-14 and they are trash.  (not even counting that FG)
