To me, it's a daunting task--impossible, really--to rank accurately the best 100.  This poll might be terrific--I just don't know much about almost all 16,000 or so teams, and most of your top 100.  I'm forced to extrapolate.

SPP at 39 can be defended.  1 loss to a good team.  Won out in a competitive football state.  A lot of highly-recruited and -ranked kids.  Do they belong at 29 or 39 or 59?  Who knows?

They got demolished at home by an unranked Joes, which beat 83 Servite, which didn't finish too strongly, as best as I can tell.  SPP at home beat unranked Bosco by 4, taking the lead with 40 seconds left after converting on a 4th and 29.  Bosco's new QB was starting his 1st game then.  Then, SPP beats Bosco in the finals, taking the lead in the last 5 minutes, after Bosco's QB and tailback had left the game.

Servite is 83.  h2h they lost to Joes in Cali.

I can see arguments going both ways and all over the place.  Tough job.

Actually, St. Joe’s beat JSerra h2h. Servite also beat them by a similar margin. Realistically, all of those teams are top 100 material. Personally, I have Servite ranked a bit higher than JSerra and SJR based on them getting stronger down the stretch. They took Mission Viejo to the wire in the playoffs.

rookie error.  servite has 4 respectable losses

I'm looking at my favorite team--Trinity Ky.  To me, teams like that are virtually impossible to rank, due to the absence of common opponents and of strong in-state competition.  If Moeller weren't 2-8, you might use that win as a good gauge, but you can't.

Beating Warren 17-14, doesn't look too good.  Besides Trinity Ky, Warren has 3 other losses to Davis (8-5) ranked 455; Carmel (11-3) ranked 114; and Center Grove (8-6) ranked 245.  and i seriously doubt those computer MaxPrep rankings for some mid-western states.  it's incestuous--they all play each other in a virtually-impenetrable bubble.

Trinity Ky loses to Male in a close one (and Male's played no one), and to 28-7 to 9-3 Cathedral (ranked 140 by MaxPreps which I don't buy).  Cathedral is unranked by you.  Cathedral lost to Elder (12-2), St. X Ohio (9-3), and New Palestine 35-10.  Ohio X is unranked by you.  You have New Palestine ranked at 82.  (I don't think that they could beat Lakeland at 84.  Armwood at 81 I have a feeling would throttle New Pal.  And again, Servite's at 83.)

So, New Pal at 82 spanked unranked-by-you Cathedral, which easily beat Trinity Ky by 21, and Trinity Ky is ranked by you at 61.  Do you think Trinity Ky could beat Lakeland and Armwood?  Trinity Ky couldn't even give unranked Cathedral a game.

Besides Trinity Ky, the only team maybe of substance that Male played was Dupont (9-3) ranked 1,458 which Male won 22-21.  You have Male at 24.  Male can beat Lakeland and Armwood?

**********

Covington Catholic (CC) at 65?  They at home beat by 1 point Lexington Catholic (LC) 38-37, and LC is 7-5, ranked 2,181.

CC beat Highlands 13-0, and Highlands is 6-5, ranked 2,576.  If I were to want a 65 rank, I'd do more than beat the 2,576-ranked team by 13 and the 2,181-ranked team by 1, as my "big wins."

If CC had played anyone of merit, I would have looked at those games, but they didn't--so, I'm stuck.  But beating unimpressively LC and Highlands doesn't make CC look like a 65 team.

***********

Bosco and Joes played St F, SJB, Serra, and Gonzaga, and those teams in turn played other relevant teams.  So, you can get a some kind of bead on them, and then punish them for taking risks and playing hard teams.

Ky and Ind???  Ranked too highly?  And you really can't rank teams that w/hold data--meaning, they don't play real teams.

I'm gonna take a look at Fred Douglas at 99.  You can start to see the issues here, but again, it's beyond even a Herculean feat to rank 16,000 teams.

FD is undefeated, and ranked by computer MaxPreps at 664, which means that they played no one.  We have undefeated teams in NJ that I wouldn't rank top 500, let alone top 100.

FD beat 7-5 Lex Catholic by 9 points, and Lex is ranked 2,181.  FD beat, the 2nd time, Scott in the playoffs by 10, and Scott's ranked 1,940.  FD beat Owensboro by 11, and Owensboro is ranked 1,893.  No other significant games, it appears.

4 top-100 Ky teams?  I NJ???

FD is better than Bosco and Joes?  FD's strength of schedule (SOS) is 5.4.  that's almost ZERO.  CC's is 17.7.  Male's is 19.7.  Trinity Ky's is 25.6.  Owensboro's  SOS is a freakin' 2.  2.  single-digit 2.  2 is pretty close to just playing w/ yourself.  we can suit up 30 people on this board and beat Owensboro, and help their SOS in the process.

MaxPreps ranks Bosco at 96 w/ a SOS of 50.3, almost double Trinity's.  Joes's SOS is 49.1, almost double Trinity's.  SPP's is 40.7.

For context, St. Francis's SOS is 44.7.  Don Bosco played arguably harder schedule than STF.

SJB's SOS is 65.9, MD's is 64.8, STA's is 39.3, and Duncanville's is 36.3.  But at least the latter 2 have real wins and tons of high-recruited players.  So, you have some basis.

************

You cannot ranked FD at 99.  it cannot be done--there's no basis.  Most usually give you a 5-word snarky comment--I'm trying to help this process and lay out/show my work as teachers say.

Looking at 247Sports' Ky's top 45 Seniors, Ky has nine 4 stars (not one 5*), twenty 3 stars, and the rest are 2 stars.  It's not a powerhouse state like Fla with talent all over the place.  you cannot justify 4 Ky teams.

Why did you do it?  Everyone's talking about it.  We want to know.

I think you have me confused with Whiteshoe’s poll. My poll is very different than his. Mine is the No Nonsense poll. I need a top 60 this week. Check it out.

Still waiting on your poll.......

You saved me some trouble.  As a an initial matter, my hat off to you and your poll.  Amazingly difficult.  And you and Whiteshoes deserve thanks.

The new Washington Consensus seems to be that we're taking Male Ky out of any top 50 (24 and 30 are more demoralizing than that loss reported in that Montclair-loss article in another thread), and thinking long and hard before putting any Ky team in the top 100.  The facts and reasoning are set forth above in detail.

We can't make things perfect, but we can make things better--let's do this 1 easy thing, and take on more later.

I should have responded to him or something like that.  I confused things.

Your poll is very good, too.

See my 1 nit above.  Ace the Ky teams.

SPP is top 50.

Bosco is top 75.

Joes is top 100.

No matter who wins out of Male v Trinity Ky, we'll put that one at 100 or 101.  I like Ky, as I'm sure they voted for Pres. Trump, but that only carries so much favor.  The state is pretty poor this year.  How this poll above has 4 Ky teams in it is indefensible.  1 is tough enough to justify.  Cathedral and Ohio X could beat any team in that state.

Male is legit this year. They could lose to Trinity this weekend (rivalry rematch), but I doubt it. Trinity is borderline top 100 (90-110). You keep referencing Indy Cathedral and how they whipped Trinity, but Trinity also whipped Carmel 41-14. Cathedral beat Ctr Grove 14-9. Carmel also beat Ctr Grove (twice) by a similar margin. So, was Cathedral thumping Trinity like they did a fluke or was Trinity overwhelming Carmel the fluke? Which one do you go with? Personally, the Indianapolis and two Louisville schools are all about even this year, with Male and New Palestine a step above.
Also, Covington Catholic stomped LaSalle, who beat both Elder and St. X and is playing for a state title this weekend. How do you rank all those teams????

No you don’t. It’s not that deep. Lol.
I’m just saying all of those schools are about even. We can daisy chain back and forth all day, but that will give me a headache. Some people will rank them one way and other people might be completely different with their rankings.

Male

3* WR (Ky commit) & 3* TE (2 offers: SE Mo St & W. Mich).  The only Male Srs ranked in Ky's top 35 players.

Male beat 9-3 Dupont by 1 point, and Dupont's ranked 1,458.  Male's SOS is 19.7, which is bad.

So, you have a shortage of Sr FBS talent.  You played a terrible schedule.  You beat Dupont by 1.  Dupont's SOS is 18.2.  You have no signature wins.  Trinity Ky is not a signature win.  You needed double OT to beat Trinity Ky, if you want to boot-strap on that win.  (I'll deal with Trinity Ky and your points in a bit.)

But MaxPreps SOS says Ky is a shit show.  But Trinity Ky somehow is good, and so, beating them makes Male 24 or 30.

A lot of your above hinges on Trinity KY and some convolutions--so, let's head there.

It’s not all about 5/4* players. It helps, but it’s not everything. Not every all-star will roll through the schedule with ease either. Their are usually one or two letdowns throughout the year (ie DuPont with Male). You can’t ding a team for ONE close game. The entire season is what has to be encompassed.

Because it’s a phrase that HAS to be repeated to you over and over again until you decide to grow a pair.

I'm calling you out on specific teams and nailing them.

Yet because I don't do the pick 'em or put out a fraudulent poll some idiot think it means I lack a pair.

You're small-time and small-minded.

That's why you cling to polls and pick 'ems.

It's pitiful.

I can pick out 5-10 teams in any poll and find a way to make them look bad. It doesn’t take a genius to do that. You’re not that intelligent, Guzzler. So, quit trying to act like you are. Instead, muster up some courage and put out your own poll or compete in one of the Pick’ems. That way you’ll have SOME ground to stand on.
