He used his war hero status overtly in his political battles to an unseemly degree. He would use it as a “trump” card to denigrate the moral authority of other political officials. He put himself on a pedestal, and was a highly ambitious man who by many reports was neither pleasant or well-liked to be around. Especially an American who spent five years in a prison camp and wouldn’t leave until his men left first. Disgraceful what Trump said about McCain and other American heroes.
