I think so. It’s tough because some people were born in a state but prepped elsewhere. So it’s a matter of opinion and criteria.

Andrew Luck was born in DC and moved to Texas at 12. He prepped his entire HSFB career in TX. Does DC get credit or TX? it all depends on criteria

Good start but I'll have to update the list later to fit the format I listed on page one because it has to be the same format across the board so the comparison is fair

I usually go by HS, but it doesn't matter much I guess.

probably but in this case I requiring they are born and played high school in the state as well as made it to the NFL

so it will become interesting with a few of these positions which is why I'm limiting it to a few states

also @Nolebull813 I will now be adding Pennsylvania to the list of states and once I have went through both CA lists above I'll send it over so you can see what positions remain open, some of the ones you had listed were born in another state and were disqualified as a result but sadly for CA I'm only allowing 2 QBs so probably their deepest position is gonna have multiple HOF players left out

neither since to be eligible the player had to have done both in the same state so sadly Luck won't be considered for either on this exercise

Defense tomorrow

I would have counted Gronk as a NY tight end if I had the time to make a full roster...I thought he only played his senior season in PA he is originally from Buffalo area.  Anyways, some other players from NY off the top of my head (there are probably plenty better NY choices than these, I don’t have the time to research):

QB-Boomer Esiason, Ron Jaworski, Vinny Testaverde, Sid Luckman

RB-Jim Brown, Ray Rice, Dorsey Levins

WR-Art Monk, Quinn Early, Rob Moore, Curtis Samuel

TE-Rob Gronkowski, John Mackey

O-Line: Ali Marpet, Marco Rivera, D’Brickshaw Ferguson, John Niland, George Starke, Willie Colon

D-Line: Lyle Alzado, Jimmy Kennedy, Art Donovan

LB-Keith Bullock, Seth Joyner, Otis Wilson (This is an underrated trio of LB IMO)

D-Back-Courtney Greene, Paul Lankford, Lance Schulters

yeah I was debating back and forth to include him in a PA list but I'll take him out and put in either Kyle Brady or John SPagnola.  Gronk's dad moved him down to Woody (Woodland Hills HS in Pitt area) for senior season b/c of the QB and competition a bit better than up in upstate NY.

The kicker would be under KS on defensive side but this is a good start, I can always fill in the holes afterwards but the more you can list the easier my work is so thank you 🙂

Why is that? They both won 3 Super Bowls and 2 coach of the year awards. Gibbs had a much less talented roster his career than Walsh did. And Gibbs had a better winning percentage .629 to .609

Bill Walsh changed the game. His offensive philosophy was revolutionary and is still used today. His coaching tree lineage is unmatched. He had a. much bigger impact on the NFL than Gibbs (who was a great coach).

Talent wise the 84’ and beyond 49ers teams were better than the later 80 early 90’s Skins. The 81’ team however was not very talented and the top end talent they had was young, sans a few good veterans. Early 80’s Redskins were more talented, I’ll take John Riggins over Ricky  Parton as my running back any day of the week. The first of the the 3 titles Walsh had was with not a great roster.

Just as a heads up for a player to make the list they have to be born AND play high school in the same state

Believe me the rule is a pain in the ass as I had a few HOF players taken off each list because of the technicality but I had to apply it across the board to do it fairly

Why? Seems where they learned the game and developed their skills is way more important than the hospital room they were born in. Which probably had zero bearing on their football career and development??

I could have done that but then I would run into issues with players who played in multiple states or played middle school in one state then came as a 9th or 10th grader into another state

Thats why I decided to qualify they had to be born and play high school in the same state
