Ruston, La vs Midland Legacy, TX at Choctaw Stadium

Couple of notes:

1-Midland Legacy was Midland Lee until 2021.

"For the last 60 years, Midland's Robert E. Lee High School has been represented by a Confederate soldier. But last fall, district officials decided that needed to change after the school board voted to rename the campus to Legacy High, and end the school's glorification of the Confederacy.May 12, 2021"

In hindsight, DLS would have beat the fuck out probably every team in that poll.

Quite a schedule for the Ruston Bearcat. Definitely the toughest Louisiana schedule I've seen so far.

St Aug (NOLA) is a solid second so far.

Midland Legacy went 3 rounds last year before losing to Allen in the 6A Texas playoffs

Now that's how you put together a schedule,  wish WM would take note but kudos to Ruston

That Etowah Alabama team was not a top 250 team much less a top 25 team. They had Cadillac Williams is why they got so much hype. They beat a 5 loss Willianson team in the finals. Played a terrible schedule.

It's a great schedule. Overall one of the best in the nation so far when you break it down.

Ruston sure did put a lot on their plate though.

Have to respect that either.way.

I think you were right about this Texas guy over at Ruston scheduling Texas teams.

Ruston opens the season at home with 5A Acadiana.

Ruston could very well open the season 0-1. Acadiana has had Ruston's number.

Acadiana is 4-0 vs Ruston since 2004 (MaxPreps era)

2017: Acadiana 28 Ruston 6

2018: Acadiana 28 Ruston 21

2019: Acadiana 28 Ruston 20

2020: Acadiana 24 Ruston 10

Didn’t DLS thump ECA around then?

Yeah, 4 years later. You were probably asleep back then or weren't following High School football. You were probably into Nascar or something like that.

That 2003 Evangel team was pretty good, but not great. Nothing like 1999 with 5* QB Brock Berlin.

2003 could have been better if Evangel would have had their 5* QB. But he was already enrolled at USC.

Evangel was lucky to beat Rummel in the playoffs that year.

Note:

Ruston won their first State Championship this past year since 1990.

Ruston won a piece of the myth National Championship in 1990 as well and they defeated Catholic (Baton Rouge) 52-10 in the state 4A Championship game.

It's been debated by the experts that the 1990 Ruston Bearcat football team was the best High School football team ever in Louisiana.

I remember watching that 1990 Ruston team and thinking they just did not fit in. They was on a totally different level like some of the teams you see stacked today.

1990 NATIONAL SPORTS NEWS SERVICE POLL

1) Ruston (LA) (14-0)
2) Aldine, Houston (TX) (15-0)
3) Eisenhower, Lawton (OK) (14-0)
4) Mt. Carmel, Chicago (IL) (14-0)
5) Merced (CA) (14-0)
6) Bucholz, Gainesville (FL) (14-0)
7) Trinity, Loiusville (KY) (14-0)
😎 Harding, Warren (OH) (14-0)
9) North Allegheny (PA) (14-0-1)
10) Morse, San Diego (CA) (14-0)

12) Cummings, Burlington (NC) (15-0)

Saw some chatter about West Monroe traveling to Arkansas to play Pulaski Academy?

Truth or bullshit?

Doesn't sound right to me.

I haven't heard anything, would find it extremely doubtful though since WM only has 4 home games...  stranger things have happened I guess.  Does Pulaski have the same date open?

If it doesn't look right, it's probably not right.

hold up, did some inquiring and a pretty reliable source says yes the game is happening.  If this is the schedule then they switched the Catholic date to make it happen, it was WM @ Catholic week 2 and week 4 was open

but they didn't say where the game would be played, Pulaski Academy's Joe B Hatcher Stadium, while nice, only seats 1,200 total from what I understand.  There's no way WM could fit into that visitor's side

Well that's great.

Pulaski Academy is a quality program and great team to fill that open date with.

They're moving up to 7A Arkansas this year and will be in the Little Rock district with Bryant, Cabot, Conway, North Little Rock and all those Little Rock schools.

Little Rock is a very underrated area for high school football, in my opinion.

Little Rock itself has a population of 202,000 and Metro Little Rock has a population of 760,000. It's not a small place/area.

Ruston will be playing Cabot again this year out of that Little Rock district.

They will definitely have to add some seats if they plan on sticking around 7A Arkansas.

Most of those 7A schools have pretty nice sized stadiums and I imagine they travel pretty well too.

Pulaski Academy just built that stadium in 2016.

I like it!  West Monroe is virtually going from playing every non-district game at home to traveling for 3 straight games for over 1,000 miles round trip...  not quite anyone, anywhere but it's a start.  Looks like I will be road tripping in the Fall

You might could get 250 people on the visitor's side.

West Monroe's band will probably not be making this trip if the game is at Pulaski Academy.

While West Monroe doesn't have an Allen, TX sized band they have a very large one just the same.... plus everything associated with the band> flag team, pep club girls, and stuff.

My guess is around 200 to 300.
