HawgGoneIt
It's actually not surprising that places that have fewer people are considered better to live in. People are shit birds and fuck wads. Just look at the collection on here. Imagine if all of us plus another 3 or 4 million just like us lived in North Dakota. That place would go downhill quick!

concha
http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-jackson-california-poverty-20180114-story.html Why is liberal California the poverty capital of America? Guess which state has the highest poverty rate in the country? Not Mississippi, New Mexico, or West Virginia, but California, where nearly one out of five residents is poor.
TheBlockIsHot
Completed slanted. Actually California is one of the richest states in America. According to the article: "That's according to the Census Bureau's Supplemental Poverty Measure, which factors in the cost of housing, food, utilities and clothing, and which includes noncash government assistance as a form of income." Income is not even mentioned. Come back when you want to post balanced articles. Clown. The most impoverished states are ironically southern red states. TheMaximumHornetSting
There's a few things that gotta be factored in. California has far more people than MS.... So there's bound to be more homeless people and poverty... MS is a crap hole to begin with...

It's amazing how a place blessed with so many natural riches can get that fucked up. You make $100k in the Bay Area and you live in a 500 or 750 sq ft dump. In Jackson, MS you have a beautiful 3000-4000 sq ft home.
concha
http://www.sacbee.com/opinion/california-forum/article166553177.html Why does California have the nation’s highest poverty level? So says the U.S. Census Bureau in its “supplemental measure” of poverty, which is more accurate than the traditional measure because it takes into account not only income, but living costs. By that measure, just over 20 percent of Californians are living in poverty. The Public Policy Institute of California has devised its own measure, similar to the Census Bureau’s, that not only validates the 20 percent figure, but tells us that another 20 percent of Californians are in “near-poverty,” which means they struggle to pay for food, shelter and other necessities of life.
